my searching has found me 2-liter/2-cups sugar/1/2-tsp. yeast (most expensive the best I beleive it goes wine ,champain ,beer, then bread,or champain first)fill water 3" from top/ shake everyday and it should last three weeks/ more sugar= more co2 at first but it burns out quicker/this mix should do it longer and steady as long as you shake everyday/and dont forget the hole/ ad tube to plants if placed to far away/us epoxy to seal. now i know how to do this but i dont know when. can u use co2 during entire grow or is it only in flowering

If your gonna go through all this you might as well do it right. Spend 15 bucks at brewhuas.com and get a hydrometer and a pack of turbo yeast. I use this to make 185 proof um... Fuel alchohol in my still (not hard to build you built a grow room you can make a still). The mixture you guys are talking about should get to an alchohol content of about 13% with the bakers yeast etc.. So for more co2/alchohol output use the turbo yeasts. they can tolerate an alchohol content of about 20% and have nutrients that plain sugar lacks for the yeast. Usually about 6 cups of sugar and a gallon of water will do it. just keep mixing in sugar till the hydrometer is @ 1.18. Dont fill if up all the way cause it will overflow. should last for about 2 weeks. hell if your not running it through the still use grape juice instead of water, add sugar till 1.18 on hydrometer. 2 weeks later and a drinkable sweet, but not something those wine and cheese people will like, wine.

I get an e-mail newsletter from Advanced nutrients on a regular basis. In one of these articles it gives a recipe for homemade co2 using fermentation. The recipe they give is:
1Qt. non chlorinated luke warm H2O 3 cups of sugar 3 tsp. or packet of yeast mix ingredients in gallon jug drill hole in lid of jug screw lid on jug insert straw or tubing into hole in lid so the end of the tube in the jug is 2 inches above solution, and seal penetration with tape They say this will give your plants CO2 for three weeks. I am currently using and it is working. If you need more just make two or three jugs and spread them around your space. I only use one and have it behind my osc. fan. Hope this helps.

hey man, nice looking plants you got there
I downloaded all the Advanced nutrients videos from youtube then watched them on the ps3...i didnt see a co2 episode so thanks for posting up the article. I will be trying this tomorrow. I think i will try a mixture of ideas, i like satan's dalmation idea about the turbo yeast and might even try the grape juice instead of water! |

Are you still about satan's dalmation?
I have never done this kidna thing before...so did a little digging and found a good video on youtube Starting Gravity for; Dry Wine: 1.085 - 1.100 Medium Wine: 1.120 - 1.140 Sweet Wine: 1.140 - 1.160 Most Hydrometers are calibarated for 60 degress. Measurements taken must be adjusted to compensate for temperature. Actual temp vs points to add; 60 degrees: Add .001 70 degrees: Add .002 77 degrees: Add .003 84 degrees: Add .004 95 degrees: Add .005 105 degrees: Add .006 Example: Wine temp is actually 84F. Specific Gravity is 1.100 Correction to add is .003 Adjusted SP. GR is 1.103 SG - Starting Gravity EG - Ending Gravity Alcohol % = SG - EG --------- 7.67 Example SG = 1.160 EG = 1.005 (1160-1055) / 7.67 105 / 7.67 13.72 aLC % = 13.72 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U57tEEtVfLo I was wanting to double check you rmethod; Large pot of water (or grape juice sounds better) warming up on the cooker Dissolve sugar and take a sample out and to cool to room temp. Use hydrometer to check reading...if not 1.18 add more sugar and repeat reading process. Once at 1.18, add the pack of turbo yeast? Is there a reccomended about of yeast to add to amount of liquid? Then is that it? Just put into large bottles and leave around the room? Do you use tubing to disperse teh co2 around your plants or just in bottles with straws? And just to confirm...keep the temps around 85-90 degrees for optimal conditions? Thanks in advance, sorry about all the questions |

I also add a pinch (1/8 tsp) baking soda to bring the PH up,and a tsp of carnation instant breakfast to help feed the yeast. Yeast is activated @ 110 degrees fahrenheit by the way
