Okay, here's the thing. I got one of those hanger boxes, set up lights, right now i got a hps bulb, got a little one planter hydroponics setup and I'm getting some mylar later on, however Its hella hot in the box, and in the surrounding areas, I got a rotating fan on it, and im in the basement. I need to keep it closed like 80% of the day due to the people I live with currently.
Is there anything I can do to cool it off more? I just don't want my plant getting hardcore owned. Those tiny rotating fans were an idea of mine but the planter is to high. here's some pictures -- ![]() ![]() ![]() I duct taped all the cracks and what not so its perfectly sealed * no light escapes my clutches!* so I don't get dropkicked in the face. + added my old trench coat on top so it looks inconspicuous ;{ D ![]() so yeah, anything that would help that'd like, actually work without them asking why I have a fan pointed at that box with my jacked over it all day for.

I know, I just don't know what to do about it.
I was thinking " Cut a hole in the back and add a fan of some sort, but then where the hell would I get a proper fan to do it? it has good airflow right now, the back has these gripper things to lift the actual box when its used for conventional things like packaging clothing and what not, I didn't tape those, its facing the wall so its no biggy. I need to figure out how to cool it, ventilation will come with that.

take the insulating jacket off the top of the box. use black plastic instead since it wont trap the heat.... then to make it so it doesnt attract any eyes, put a larger box over the whole mess.

kk I just did that, but it won't be doing much at all about my heat issue, its still HAWT in hur. if you know what I mean.
would home hardware have mounting battery fans or something of the like in a hardware store? anywhere I could get something along those lines in a largish city? maybe 2 or three battery operated fans to circulate the air and keep it cool or something? I havent the slightest clue what to do, these are just ideas im randomly pitching.. haaallpp lol

actually, removing that jacket will help more than you think! i threw a blanket over my grow to help low key it and it kept my temps over 100 degrees... i removed the blanket and went with thin plastic and the temps dropped 20 degrees...
adding the second box to cover the whole mess will allow you to add some ducting and fans from your original box and keep them hidden under the cover box. circulating air inside the box wont help with cooling, and in fact, it will bring the temps up since those fans cause heat due to the nature of electric motors. you *must* have a fresh air intake and an exhaust. the good news is, while not ideal, these plants will grow and yield in temps over 100 degrees F.

well ok, heres my plan, feel free to tell me I'm insane if the idea is madness, it just makes sense to me somewhat but don't want to waste my money if I'm wrong.
I'm going to buy 3 rotating mini fans and mount them inside the box, then im going to buy a 4th fan, its a mounting one, kinda like a giant computer fan if you know what those look like thats battery powered, and im going to reverse it and cut a hole so it can suck air out instead of blowing it in for an exaust. 3 fans to keep it cool, 1 fan to keep the air flow. any comments? additives, improvements?

you will need a light baffle on the exhaust and the intake hole, other than that though, you sound to be on the right course
a light baffle is either a box with angles or some S curved ducting to keep the light from getting a straight shot in. 3 fans inside though my be too much due to the heat increase of the little electrical windings... i would probably start with 1, check temps and then add or not. also, notice i added an intake duct to your scenario proper intake/exhaust can do amazing things with temperature. my box runs at 70-85 degrees with a 4" intake and a 4" exhaust with a 4" 12v fan pulling the exhaust out. worked great for about 10 cubic foot.... works not so great now that i upgraded to about 20 cubic foot

lol, ok I'll give it a try.
canadian tire would carry all of this right? : < if so that rocks, I can pick some stuff up tomarrow n.n my box can last for a day the way it is, tonight when I go to bed until when i wake up ill keep it open with a giant rotating fan on it to keep it cool. the light being too close to the box is only a temp thing, i'm moving in a month and a half, this ghetto box is just a makeshift temp thing until I get a proper place to grow thanks for the help, I'll give feedback when I hook up the stuff and see if it works.
