i was just wondering how many plants the people average for thier own usage. i am new and am trying to calculate time it takes to grow indoors to time i am going to be smoking it. i am hoping that 6 plants will do. and i smoke regularly daily 90% of the time.

so thanks for your answers, it will help me get an idea if i need more. and i know it depends on the strain and genes and what not for grow times and yield amounts. but i am just talking on average because i am not always going to grow the same thing, i want to switch it up some with large yields other maybe small yields but amazing taste or whatnot. so on average, but actually if you wanted to get technical i got some sweet tooth coming in hopefully and that should flower in as little as 6 weeks! so just clone that bitch and grow it ya know.

A lot depends on your set up man. Are you going to just run one light and run one crop completely start to finish before you can start more? If you run two lights in different grow rooms you can greatly reduce the time between harvest. I have painful medical disability and smoke like you do it sounds like. I have two rooms harvesting four mature 3-4 foot tall plants every 2-2.5 months that does me just fine. Also what kind of lights are you planning on using? You really need to go with HID to get the kind of results your going to want. I use two 400 watters, an hps for flowing and mh for veg and a tube flourecent light for rooting my clones.

Hi There! You sound like us... my boyfriend and I are growing for personal consumption as well, and we smoke a lot. Right now we have 6, but we realize how much better it would be if we could have a mother plant to take clones from, as it greatly reduces the veg time and you can get buds faster.

We're hoping to get anywhere from 1/2 to 1 ounce per plant, and that probably won't last us the 2-3 months until next harvest. But it's better than buying all of that!!

My personal opinion is that 6 to 8 plants would work for you. We are using all t5 lights for our plants since we're working with a small area and the heat is a major issue. Hope this helps you! Check out our grow journal: Our First Grow... Uh, Second Attempt

I'm only growing a little for myself (i know a mate who could get me some but I know when he got it for mates at uni he took a cut, and at £40 for an 8th it sounds quite expensive)

Not that I don't trust my mate, he's started growing for personal use as well...but it sounds SO much cheaper and fun to attempt to grow a couple plants instead of buying it when 5 feminised seeds are £30. I hardly smoke it so a plant or 2 at a time will keep me WELL in a few months or however long it is to grow the stuff!

I grow about four to five plants at a time and will yeild anywhere from an ounce to two and a half ounces per plant. I don't smoke all of this, just squirrel it away for a rainy day. I bought a 400 HPS and didn't realize the nugs that thing could pump out!

Its best if you can get on a cycle (SOG). That way you dont have long to wait between harvest. I've flowered 8 plants effectively under a 400w hps. usually an ounce plus per plant. This is with about a 5 week veg from sprout and then the usual 8-9weeks of flower. I veg under t-8 fluros. It does cost money to grow but not near as much as it takes to buy the quantities I am able to grow.

I too was fantisizing about ounces of fat stcky nugs, a few months later it is a reality, take care of your babies and you will be rewarded! I fim my plants at least 3 times in veg so there are 10 plus tops for each plant. But it is def feasible to get eight plus ounces per cycle under a 400 watter.

i am planning on getting hps and or mh but right now i have six 105 watts each environmental cfl's at 16,000 lumens for each set of three 105 watt cfls (now someone said to me that lumens don't add up so if you have 2 set of lights that have three lights each on them and each set of three lights is 16,000 then it is not 32,000 lumens. or something like that i don't know the rules on how to interperate how much light is in a given area based on the bulbs used) half for veg at 6500k and the other half for flower at 3000k. and i have two more 85 watts each cfl's that run 8,400 lumens each, one for flower one for veg. now i am going to use those eight cfls for the 5 plants, and then i have two more 85 watt cfls that i wanted to put in a little box about 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft with a movable cieling for the mother. i was going to start off with 5 plants and hopefully one mother. run a dwc but i am afraid of algea so i am going to lookup different plant friendly additives like hydrogen peroxide and other stuff. area is about 3ft by 3 ft with adjustable cieling that WILL have mylar on it.

now these aren't the walmart cfl's they actually are like almost a foot long and the tubing has good girth and length. plus i have seen decent grows on this site with just the 23 watt cfls and having like 8 of them around one plant. well with 5 plants and the 800 watts of lighting i have for them that should come out to about the same watts per plant used. plus these guys didn't do half the shit i am doing for the plant, ie half veg half flower, mylar, nutes, clones, etc. but if worst came to worst i could always pick up a few more cfl's.

i am going to take care of these babies like they were my own, cuz they kinda are, atleast i paid for them. but i ordered a couple different fast veging high yield buds like sweet tooth and such. i think instead of growing the reg seeds i ordered at first i am going to go with feminized. just to have a full harvest and then maybe keep one as a mother and be good to go.

which by the way how long is the average mothers life a year? i heard dna ages like just getting old does to people. but no one ever said a round about age of life.

are the lights enough for my grow. i will have mylar on everything around the plants too. just fyi.

you are such a cock tease, i thought it was going to be a finished grow, you are in the middle of it, heck not even your at the begining just after germ. but that is cool. do you mind telling me what happen on your first attempt? the journal said this is your second attempt. as i would like to know how the plants died or why you had to kill them?
