i didn't cut my fan leaves in half. My clones are fine. I think you can do without the surgery.

I forgot who but someone said that they took a clones when they harvested and it lived. It's probably genetics. I have one plant that every clone lives and never wilts. My other plant's clones wilt and yellow within 12hrs. But, i think you should try so you see how the plant handles it and see if you have the skill to pull it off.

Is that normal? When will they perk back up?

Not normal, this is why it's good to cut the big leaves. The more leaf surface you have the more evaporation will occur. Since the roots have not developed the plant cannot absorb enough water to keep the leaves
turgid (how's that for an obscure word. I have to look it up, I'm not certain it fits here). I always cut the leaves back to 3/8 to 1/2 inch. The leaves stay up while the roots develope. Works great for me.

or...use the leaves to your advantage. They can soak up water. I spray my clones at least twice a day. But there is also a fan on them that evaporates it quick
