Default topping whilst flowering
i have been flowering two ice plants for just under a week and was wandering whether it is possible to top the plant in the flowering stage.
The reason for doing this is because i have limited headroom and still want the plants to be nice and bushy. There are some nicely developing buds on the plant atm, so do you think it would be a good idea to top the very top 'mini' bud whilst still flowering them.
thanks in advance for replies.

No, it will slow the plants growth down, as they have to transfer energy into side growth.Tie the plant down or lay it diagonal to the light for more headroom. You can also bend the stems of the plants...they respond well to this type of stress.

Regardless of strain, the growth or stretch after switching to 12/12 will continue for about 1/3rd the entire length of the flowering cycle. So if they finish in 8 weeks, you have at least 2 and a half weeks of vertical growth to contend with after flowering.

Tie the top shoots down now! You don't have any other option if the plants are too tall for your space and you're already flowering... it's too late to trim them back and if you can't raise the light or lower the plants you have to tie them back.

Get some good staking points either on the plant containers or in the tray and pull down the tallest shoots until they are at a managable canopy level. They will revert back to top growth and be pointing up a few hours after tying them down. You won't get the big huge top colas but you will likely increase your yield.

tie and bend if you are in flower, topping them now will ruin your yield quiet a bit.
always consider before flowering next time that the plant will double it size to sometimes triple in flower from the height it had in veg!

Bending is sweet... maximises your yield as the lower buds have greater access to the light. I'm messing about with a sativa strain at the moment. You can even snap branches clean off and sellotape them back together. You may lose a little time (it shouldn't affect your yield) in growth while the plant repairs itself but the buds will be covered in resin within 48 hours. I did this twice on the same plant (as it had been topped numerous times) and both branches were covered in resin... far more than on any of the other branches on the same plant or indeed any of the other plants' branches.

most ice strains will stretch alot during flowering. major pruning or cutting during flowering cycle will stop production on the plant. nirvanas ice is a major stretcher and lots of free headroom is required. expect about a foot of upper growth within a week of switching to hps
