I think it might be possible but probably a very low percentage, walmart and home depot sell $5 rooting hormone, better than nothing.

Directly in soil with hormones is a slight longshot, unless you keep the soul around the stem moist AT ALL TIMES. which can also cause MOLD, rooting in a cup of water without hormones works fine. you dont NEED hormone is just HELPS.

Rooting hormone helps out a huge amount but it is possible to do it without.I recommend the gel type of rooting hormone the powder doesn't do so well.
