For an exhaust working with the "activated carbon" DYI idea.. I read sometimes on here that you should "PULL" the air through the filter.

Well this is what i dont get:

1. If you are PULLING it, do you pull the air BEFORE it gets to the filter, or after it goes through?

2. Is the filter on the INSIDE of the grow box or OUTSIDE??

3. Inductor 6 In. In-Line Duct Booster Fan - DB206 at The Home Depot

Would this fan work as an EXHAUST fan?

No matter how many times I come back to this subject I just cant seem to find any clear answers.. Maybe I should just post a thread called POST PICS OF YOUR EXHAUST/FILTER SYSTEM!

I need to SEE it to understand it.

Thats the fan I use with my carbon scrubber. They are a little noisy though.
If you're growing in a small container Put the fan at the last to suck the air from your container to the scrubber and then through the fan.

Centrifugal or squirrel cage fans work best and the filter goes inside the grow area. I have never tried one but i heaar that those duct booster fans work poorly against a static load like a filter. Perhaps a stanley blower would fit your application and your budget if you can find one i have heard that they quit making them.

if u want to pull air thru the filter u put the fan b4 the filter so the filter is outside ur box
if u put the filter inside the box u have to have the fan after the filter, sucking the air thru the filter. that will work to but i heard that its best to pull the air thru

Someone want to post a pic or a diagram? Pulling, sucking, pushing.. it's confusing the hell out of me.

for one the carbon filter should always be inside the grow room.

It should go:

carbon filter - Fan - exhaust pipe - outside grow room.

So which is recommended? Diagram A or B?
