Hey guys, ive been wanting to upgrade my growing system for a while and have found the components very cheap and available on ebay..

but im kind of concerned about how safe it would be to have my components shipped to my house...

I would like to order a new HPS light from ebay.. how safe is this?? Provacy is my very first priority.

also, seeds... I know it cant be easy to get seeds through customs and shit.. i was wondering how safe and where to get seeds.

Equipment is ok to buy and get shipped to your house, but seeds is a no no. Get a p.o. box at the post office and send them there.

okay great! if u get a P.O box, what information is required in oreder to get one? i dont really want to order seeds that are sent to a p.o box when the p.o box is in my name with my address.

i feel that there would be a lot of suspicion in doing that. what do u think? haha i dont want my house to get raided! lol

You have to give them your real name and address, they require I.D.

have it sent to friends house (thats not growing) and put fake name. tell your friend to let you know when it gets there....

I can find no advantage to ordering seeds using a PO Box. The post office requires multiple forms of ID including a picture ID. Anything that goes to a po box is easily tracked to the owner of the box. The UPS Store and similar outfits don't offer anonymous options either. Using fraudulent identification is something I'm not inclined to do and wouldn't even know how to go about it if I was. And anyway, I see fake or stolen ID's as as a security risk in and of itself unless you are a pro at such things.

Am I missing something?




Unless you use a third party go-between (which brings with it a whole new set of security risks to evaluate) I'm not aware of any delivered by mail method that offers any real measure of security.

Luckily, when US Customs does intercept a package they simply confiscate the illegal material and send you the rest of the package sealed with their green tape plus a letter like this.








My opinion is that only an order of many hundreds of seeds or something clearly big-time will cause US Customs to step outside of their own massive bureaucracy to contact local authorities. And even then, such authorities still need to go to a judge to get a search warrant before they can get any information on your adequately hidden grow.

I've heard of only a single case where an intercepted package resulted in the police knocking on someones door. And those people actually let the police inside their grow area and voluntarily admitted their activities (so said the news report). I'm confident that very isolated case had a lot more going on with it than JUST a confiscated seed order.

If confiscated seeds were leading to arrests of typical people I think we'd hear about it every now and then. But we don't.




I'm 100% in favor of all well-reasoned security measures. But order seeds without involving outside help just doesn't allow for many options.

I ordered all my seeds and growing equipment to my address with no problems.

The govt doesnt have time to sit around and look and credit cards and then match the address and match that your growing. It just isnt economical.

Sure you run the risk of being flagged, but the chances are extremely minimal, just like Hawk said, if your seeds do get intercepted, all you get is a letter, a small slap on the wrist.

Thanks alot guys. I think im definately going to have to have them sent to a friend's house or something.. not because i have a hunch something will happen, but just because i want zero risk of anything happening.

where to people get these ideas? Lol. What is the point of a p.o box? They still have your name and address lol, and do not think you are going up there and setting up a "fake" account ahahah, its not a small business its the Post Office.
