Mycorhizzal Fungi

Has anyone had success with adding mycorrhizal fungi to their grow? I've been looking at these for improving both potting soil and soil in my new housing development. Every source I've found extolls the virtues of these little guys.

They're supposed to dramatically increase the uptake of water and nutrients :hump: through a symbiotic relationship with plant roots. They're naturally found in forest soil, but not in disturbed or potting soil (sterilized).

Prices aren't bad - I've ordered two ounces of the soluble powder stuff which should cover 250-500 plants (!!!!). With shipping it came to around $15.

I don't know how to post pictures, so follow this link to see a few with and without photos. Pretty impressive. It's also where I bought my stuff, incidentally. I can't vouch for how good the company is; it's just the one I used.

Take a look at this Wikipedia entry:

Thoughts? Comments?

One additional note: upon googling the subject further, I've found that the fungi don't do well in high phosphorous environments, so they're probably only really useful in the veg phase (although wouldn't most of us like a large, robust plant??). They should be added early in the grow to help them get established in the soil.
:peace:

I'm very interested in your subject. About 2 months ago, I ran across a Mag called "Skunk". It only comes out about 4 times per year, so look for an issue date around March. My copy is loaned out. Within that issue, a very detailed article is about the world of Mycro. I LOVED that Mag. Hope this helps.

oh really???

yeah I am using the fungus now. I bought it for all those reasons and no one has had a negative thing to say about it.

Do you think it is helping? I.e., are your buds wearing a cape and jumping building in a single bound? Are they growing faster than a speeding bullet?

I use Plant Success Myco Tablets, and plenty of people swear on the mychorizae. I think it is beneficial but have not done a experiment yet.
