well some people choose to take clones from a mother rather than each generation due to mutations that can occur after so long of doing this. I think there is somthing in the grow faq about this, but im not sure.
OK if a clone is exactly like a mother, why take clones from a mother vs another clone? pros/cons of either?

Lowrider, so you get a better understanding of why it is not good to clone from clones, do this. Take a Page from a book or something and copy it, now take the copy and copy it again, then take the new copy and copy it again, do this about 3-5 times and look at the final copy. Everytime you clone or copy something, there is small imperfections, and everytime you copy the copy, or clone the clone these small imperfection become more prodominent. Hope this was not that confuseing. I almost have myself confused now.
This is all just a figment of my imagination... If this had been a Real Emergency, I would have told you where to go.

Lord u got me sold. no clones from clones.
i have a few clones that i clone from and all the clones ive ever bought from the club have been off a clone, i just now started 2 grow from seed because everybody says clones from real mothers are the best, ive had 1 female seed go threw a hole cycle and its thicker and yielded more then my clones from clones, shes revegin right now im only clonin off her when shes ready
I grow like 6-8 plants from seed. When I put them into flowering cycle I take two clones from each plant, and lable them. Or name them, what ever turns your crank. I pick the flowering plant that has the traits I desire. Those two clones from that plant will now become my mothers. Cloneing once is no big deal. It is when you start Cloneing multiple times.
This is just my opinion, and the way I do it. I am sure there are other methods out there that work great also, like Raider revegging the mother he wants. But I have never been into revegging a plant.
I try to always have two mothers of the same plant I like the most, just in case something happens like a system failure or something.

thanks lord you just gave me a system, i just started growing from seed and i didnt know the best way 2 go about making mothers your way sounds perfect, thanks again
..I don't want to get into a flamefest on this, however I use the clone-a-clone method and I also use the mother plant method (back-up!!!) - both produce exactly the same results with appropriate levels of care. In my case, both were started in similar fashion( approx 15 were started, picked best, rest grew out), one went into soil, 1 into hydro. This is a few years ago now and @times the mother has been a problem - re-potting has to be done, eventually(rootmass gets to much) etc etc, the usual problems associated with soilzez!! However, the good is, when mother is in good 'nic(condition for U non-Aussies), clones of exact same vintage/variety are ready to be, err cloned!! With the clone-to-clone method, @times, no matter how good 1 is, you can be out of sync by a few days(too good a harvest?) and clones may be of questionable quality/vintage...
I don't profess 1 method over another - both have pro/cons...evaluate your needs/capabilities(keeping mummy well/time to tend clones) and go with that...GL!!!!!
Not to mention if you are cloneing a mother that you never expect to get weight of off its no big deal....If you clone clones everytime you flower to start new vegging plants you are loosing final product...It only makes since to dedicate a mommy and use her as long as possible before making a new mother
