Default Hydroponic VS Soil
Ok so here is my breakdown of what I thinka about the topic, I generally disagree that using a hydro system will give you a better yield then using a soil system. I will agree that there a hydroponics system has a faster growth rate but is the yield any better ? Just because something grows faster does not mean it grows bigger, ecspecially in with the same amount of light and space. If you factor in time over a couple grows then hydroponics systems will have a small edge in yield. However if you have a seperate vegitation room, then the timing is not the issue.

If you have great aromatics, this is a only an opinion and is only relevant to your growing skills and the methods you use. If done properly, soil will give you buds that will smell as strong as those that are done in a hydropics setup.

I tried a hydro setup and the reason I switched back to soil is my time factor, hydro will eat your life away hydropics systems are expensive to setup and they alot of monitoring so your whole crop does not get fried. Using a soil system I can water on friday and go away for the weekend and my marijuana plants will be fine. If you were to leave a hydro setup and something were to go wrong you could wipe out your whole crop. Granted something could go wrong with a soil setup however if you loose 1 or 2 I would not be to worried.

There you have it... my thought on soild vs hydroponics, hydroponics will give you a better growth rate but I do not believe it will give you better yields.

From my experience, soil will give you a much better taste as well. Soil is more forgiving (for me). I prefer outside in the dirt, thats the way they were meant to grow (IMO).
Im not knocking hydro, and it will definately be much faster from start to finish, but I haven't seen much difference in yield just because its hydro.
My girls like it in the dirt!

It depends on the purpose I would suppose. If you are able to grow faster, you'll be able to ship it off faster. If you are growing it for your own purposes, then I'd imagine doing it in soil, because, as matt said, it'd taste better.

As long as were on the subject of soil and all. Which do you prefer to do when it comes to soil, make your own mix or use soil thats in a bag from a nursery. For potting of course.

BIG YIELD
FAST YIELD
BIG MONEY

GO AEROPONIC

there is no doubt that the turn arund time and yield size for indoor growers is far superior when growing in a HEALTHY hydroponic or aeroponic system.

If a grower invests in all the proper tools (testers, ppm, ph, fertilizers etcetera) aeropnics is not only the largest producing method (weight) but the easiest.

With the advent of dosers and automic fills on reservoirs.. there is no comparison to an automated, fie tuned aeroponic system.

ilove soil too.. but for the BLING and the turn around time.. AEROPONICs

I totally agree with Garden Knowm. I am using dirt right now and I hate the watering, the mess, and the growth rate. The only good thing is the taste and if something goes wrong they dont all die. lol.

Airoponics I think is cheaper. You need a pump, maybe some hose/ pvc pipe, A nice big box or a few. Some baskets, sprayers and thats about it.

With dirt It cost me $10 a bag. That gives me about 10 plants only cause Im not using enough dirt in my pots. It should be 2 plants im sure. Anyways pots alone. $3-4 a pot and I need 300 of them. Those two factors alone, I could prolly build 2-3 airoponic systems of the same scale.

But you old guys just stick to your dirt and skunk buds. lol

j/k im 31 so I guess im getting old too.

Yeah if I was not where I was (to many people coming and going here), I would have a Hydro set up, and not soil, but soon I maybe heading to another part of the Country here, and i am looking forward to working with Hydro there for the winter.
