Default They REALLY don't like extra moisture!

The title says it all, I didn't get pix before the leaves uncurled, but DAMN! I've gotta say that, with my plants at least, any moisture on the leaves appears to generate an immediate curling reaction. I am supposing that this must be a response to shed the water as quickly as possible, and it appears that it helps shed any moisture that may condense on the underside, too.

My garden was moved last night from the deck itself to a shelf placed on the southern end on the exterior of the deck railing. They are still JUST covered by the edge of the roof, but definitely more exposed than they have been to this point. Nothing actually on the deck had any condensation on it, but the plants and parts of the tray had moisture. Not all plants showed the curling to the same degree, but almost all (more mature) showed curling to one degree or another, up to curled under into a "C" shape.

That's interesting. I've never seen that. Must have been scary for a second.

No.. I mean, I don't want my efforts to be for naught, but it's a plant. Of course, if they end up like my bare root plantings from last year I'll probably be pissed, but not as pissed as I am about those.

I found it fascinating to see such a marked response, and it was the same way when they spent one night in a plastic bin that kept the relative humidity much higher. Reminds me of a touch plant (don't know what else they're called).

yea and i think your hand would be a better way to tell how moist your soil is than some electric meter... i mean come on, its not like were taking temps or PH with our hands but a moisture meter... thats just a waste

I don't even have to stick my hand in it. The plants tell me what they like and what they don't. They don't like moisture on their leaves, dammit!
