Okay, so I've had a minor infestation of these things in my outdoor garden, a few have gotten into my indoor veg room...

I've ordered a HotShot No Pest Strip that I plan to hang in my veg room for a week with low ventilation then rinse all the plants; but I was wondering if you guys could help me identify this pest...

If I knew what it was I'd prefer to introduce predatory insects against it, I'm all for more natural approaches, these guys didn't seem to care when I neem oiled them though.

Almost positive they're thrips now. Going to go buy ladybugs tomorrow to release in my veg room & my outdoor vegetable gardens.

Anybody know how effective ladybugs are against thrips? I love ladybugs.

outdoors they will eat a little then just fly away. Keep them under a thin white mesh outside to get more bang for your buck...

Yes, they ARE Thrips. Spinosad is the most effective treatment I've found. You can alternate with something like "Safer Insecticide Soap" as well, but a couple applications of Spinosad and you shouldn't seeany new damage. The damage that's already there won't get better. Spinosad, much like Neem, doesn't kill on contact. So don 't expect to spray and see them all dead the next day. It takes a few days. I'd say spray twice over the period of 8 days or so, and after that you shouldn't see much sign of them. Maybe follow up with a third spray a week later to be safe.
