I personally will be using hooks to lash my plant around the inside of my box so i can make it think it is 4 or 5 feet tall. I am going to try to create a double helix on the inside of my box so i can make the plant circle the CFL for best light exposure.
now that is a cool idea is this really tricky and delicate or actually easy to achieve stuff?

This wont be too tricky I hope. However if it does work it will be great for small time growers yields.

It appears the misunderstanding is yours. Here's the definition of bonsai:

bonsai: the art of cultivating ornamental artificially dwarfed varieties of trees and shrubs.

take from it what you will.

Yes but bending your plant will not provide you with a traditional bonsai style. You are only manipulating the shape of a larger plant to seem smaller whereas the art of bonsai is to force the plant to be ACTUALLY smaller in every way. I.E. When I am done bonsai'ing Socko Its leaves will even begin to come in really really small. (if I decide to take it that far.)

You are not creating a miniaturization. More of a less space consuming plant by shape.

This has been my observation. And of course, the buds which form on the thicker stem and branches are proportionately fatter....
Bending only controls the shape of plant...IMO, it increases the size of buds....
In no way does it miniaturize the plant....the contrary is true....it bulks them up.
Bonsai?
Interesting thread guys...

If growing a sativa plant and you bend it, you are making the plant grow against it's characteristics. The lengths between nodes will be shorter and you will grow a shorter, bushier plant. If a sativa plant can take on the characteristics of an indica, does this not fall under the above definition?

sativa plants are a big problem for indoor growers, which is a shame especially for medicinal users, as sativas are the best strains for pain relief but offer little in the way of yield.

If you can bend the plant to your will then it is possible to grow any plant you like in almost any conditions. A shorter, stockier plant equals higher yields.

If you bend and turn your plants regularly so that the lower branches gain better access to the light than the higher branches. The lower branches will grow, stunting the growth of the higher branches. Without the need for topping you will end up with a shorter, stockier plant... even on a sativa.
