hi all

has anyone ever tried to sex a male and a female plant from two different strains before to create some kind of new strain? and if so how did it turn out? or is it even possible? and how is it done? thanks

welcome to the forum. The only other way to cross strains would be grafting. I haven't looked at any specific information on grafting, too busy trying to learn how to grow properly for optimum yeild. There is enough to learn there to keep me busy for a while. VV

oh right i'll have a look around although like you im gonna learn to grow first lol i was just wondering really whether it was a simply process or not lol

It is done all the time, most pot seeds nowadays are cross bred. The how part is easy....find a father who has triats you like, do the same with a mother, than cross pollenate. In no time at all you'll have a strain named after you too!
Actually to have a stable cross breed, it has to be several generations deep. I forget how deep it has to be off hand.
As far as the pollenating process goes, its easy enough to collect some pollen, grab a q-tip and paint it on a few of the flowers on the mother plant.

Grafting would have no benefit at all, except for the one plant to be a host for the other, they would not share any characteristics.
I remember when I was younger and lived in AZ, we had alot of orange trees, and one tree had a branch from a lemon tree grafted onto it for our drinks. It was kinda cool.

well you pollenize your females in Mendel-style by collecting the male pollen in food-foil/kitchen-raping reps and put it on our selected breeding plant female... basically simple but in practice i think a bit more tricky

other nice way could be to cross by pollenizing clones of your selected plants and do that with clones of this plants again... would probley speed thinks up with interbreeding for stability at least i think so

I would still only do it with one female in its own confined space. better yet a clone. Because pollem has a way of flying everywhere you didnt intend for it to go.

if grafting is what i think it is then consider this. i read in the cannabis conessuer that strawberry cough is descent from haze in strawberry patches. also a buddy of mine had purchased some bud that was grown in a nearby corn feild, the buds tasted and smelt characteristics of corn, but how did we get blueberry, juicyfruit, and bubble gum, AND VIDEOMAN SWEET GRAFTING EXAMPLE WITH THE ORANGE TREE WITH LEMONS ON IT. LEMANGE TREE.

I dont believe it would be plausible, genetically, for a plant to take on any charachteristics of nearby plants... I have two cats but have never grown a tail and dont believe I will! If that was possible, maybe pot grown in the redwood forests of No. Cali would be 100 feet tall. Plants are cross-bred and bred selectively to enhance charachteristics such as taste and smell which simply remind us of other things, like strawberries or bubblegum... right?

it seems nobody REALLY knows....I think it may be an intresting experiment. I might have to try sometime in my grandparents raspberry bushes heheh.
