what is the best grow light to buy in uk. plz help

from what Ive read about Ive come to the conclusion that HPS would be the better lamp to get but it's not from experience as Im in the early stages of my 1st grow

I decided to go hps all the way and after a bad furst try, I'm doing pretty well at the moment. I do notice that normally when I look at pics of plants the same age as mine veged under the same watt MH, they are a bit bigger than mine, like I'm maybe 4-5 days behind in growth. HPS is better for flowering, MH for veg. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. If you have the kind of ballast that can take either, you could buy both kinds of bulb. From what I've read and from what guy at growshop told me, if you're going to choose between the two its better to go hps. I'm UK too, nice to see someone closer to home.

Im UK too, my 250w HPS lamp, reflector & ballast cost me £70 whch I didnt think was too bad as Ive seen them alot dearer elsewhere

How big is your grow space going to be? Even one 400w light gets pretty hot. It also seems pretty expensive. You could buy two complete 400w systems for less than that.
