Default Insulated Duct work....
Does anyone use insulated ducting in their grow op? just wounder cause i am getting supplies to get my secret jardin going and i want to try and get things that will make my grow easier.

here is BGHydro's link

6" Flex. Insulated Duct Hose - 25' long |

"Insulated ducting helps keep heat from your exhaust system from escaping back into the growing area. If you cover your air-cooled reflector with Astro Foil/Reflectix or some other form of insulation and use insulated ducting in your exhaust system, then you will be able to significantly reduce the amount of heat generated by your lighting system because the only place for heat to escape will be from the glass lens."

Do you think it will make a noticeable different to if i use regular old un-insulated duct?

A couple thoughts. I really don't get much noise from my ducting, it seems to be mostly noisy from exiting the fan, secondly, if you have a good sized fan for the hood the duct works never really heats up much. I'm running 240 cfm with a 6" vents on a 430 HPS and the ducts stay cool to the touch.

Edit: came across this baby on bghydro.com would this keep my 1000 watter's temp in check in a DR300? Loud, you know if i mention the secret jardin i am talking to you....

Vortex 6" Centrifugal Fan 449 cfm |

Lemme know, I am buying all my ventaliation for my jardin this weekend, then the jardin DR300 already order from my local hydro shop, will be in by the 4/20....

no the only reason i said the 400cfm is because the fan i want the rating of the 6inch fan is a 400 i think. plus i dont need any heat problems

Well i need a 6 inch fan cause I have a 6inch air cooler reflector, but i guess i could use a deducer and run a vortex 4" they put out 172 cfm, but really only 30 bucks cheaper, mine as well get the 6" and make complete sure my light is not heating up my jardin.

So shopping list so far includes:

-6" Vortex fan
-6" ducting (insulated or not, haven't decided)
-6" duct clamps

My next question is what would you suggest for an intake, cause i think i will setup the 6" vortex for the light exhaust (through reflector -> out exhaust fan, pulling from outside the jardin) what size fan should i use for an intake fan on a Jardin DR300? also does anyone think a "air sock" or diffuser, would be any benefit?

i have 3 fans.

1 4" 200cfm for my intake with a hepa air filter on it
2 6" 400cfm. One for my lighting and one for my exhaust. i have a carbon filter on the main room exhaust!

i would go with insulated ducting. it will help with the noise.

as far as the carbon scrubber...i have one of these Charcoal Fiber Filters

alright, so your suggesting (not that you did, but if i emulated your setup) I would use one fan for venting my light, one fan for a intake, and one for a grow area exhaust?

I really want to just be done buying stuff and grow, but I am going to make sure i have all the equipment i need before i start.

Thank you for the advise, I should have my whole shopping list for this weekend figured out by days end. Then i got one more week before my Jardin comes in, so if I am missing anything i have a week to get it lol. My goal is to start growing in my Jardin on April 20th (yea i know, w/e thats just the date my hydro store told me my jardin will be in by)

So Lighting, Check (1000watt switchable)
Ventilation, Check (after this weekend)
Grow room, Check (DR300 mo-fucka)
Hydro system, Check (ebb & flow setup)
Clones, check (god i fucking love cali co-ops!)
*I have a portable A/c unit if need be I'll use*

So I guess i am down to which nute lineup i want to use.... Any suggestions? i was thinking of going with Canna line, the Canna Aqua nutes, but am open to suggestions.

wow, i could have bought a huge bag of pot with all the cash i have invested so far....
but just think of all the pot i will be producing... mmmmmm cant wait, worth every penny.
