im going shopping tomorrow and would like to quickly clear some things up before i go. in the attatched picture, there is two lights together so there is only one cable. i think this is what i am looking for. in the picture, would the cable have a plug on the end going into a socket ? are these called cfl lamp leads and how do you get two in one ? is there a name for two like double or something so i can ask ? for vegetative stage for two plants, would two 27w cfl's be enough ? if not what should i get ?

onto another thing - ventilation
i was just reading up the GROWFAQ about ventilation, to have passive intake and exhause opposite from each other, passive intake at the bottom of the box, exhause at the top. im using a small computer fan for my exhaust. would i have to cut a square hole in my pc grow box ?
also which way do i put the fan in for exhaust ?
and wouldnt you be able to see inside the growbox then with the passive intake aswell light would leek out and would this not be obvious ?


i need help pretty fast as i think these are the only things i am unfamiliar with i will +rep for full answers to all my questions in bold italics

yes, you will have to cut a hole in order to put it in, unless there is already a hole (assuming there isnt since your asking)
put the fan facing out, so the air blows out. if that's not what your looking for then I don't really understand what your asking about which way to put the fan. and yes, you will get some light leak, which would probably be obvious, do your best to plug the leaks.

I'm sure you can find those double sockets for light at either wal-mart or home depot. Feel free to ask someone at the store, it is their job ^_^. Also I would get 42 watt CFL, they emit 2700 lumens each.

I don't know much about installing fans for ventilation. I don't know the deminsions of your grow box either, but if I were you I would invest in a mini oscillating clip-on fan. Very sturdy and they work great.

If you don't want to cut a hole you can just use a thick drill bit and drill a couple of holes and stick the fan in front of them. That's what I did. But I'd recommend cutting a hole the size of the fan. And for light not to leak you can just cover with a bit of tubing or cardboard and maybe a piece of cloth

i have an idea for keeping light from escaping from the passive inputs

Yes, the end of the cable will have a the prongs to go into an outlet. They are sockets, and yes they do have double sockets. Like I said before 2 27w cfl's will just not be enough for 2 plants in the veg state. For two plants I would use like 6 of these. What is the square feet of your grow box?

could you post a link to a website that sells these sockets so i can see what there called ? in the growfaq it says "For a small plant, below 1ft tall, I’d say you would need at least 25w of fluorescent light"
