Is there some part of transplanting from Soil to Hempy that is a quick fix for plant problems? I had 2 plants that I transplanted into hempy buckets that all there branches were drooping down. I transplanted them into their buckets and by the next morning all of their branches were standing right up. 2 Days later they were back down again. Something obviously happened during transplanting that gave them their second wind, Anyone have any ideas on what happened and what I can do as a long term fix??

okI figured it out, I changed over to some soil nutes, and what I realized is that the soil nutes dont have a ph buffer!!!!!!!! So my ph was like 6.0 in my water after adding the nutes it was 6.8 I never checked it after the nutes before today silly me, the symptoms I have looked familiar the same as when I had ph problems in my dwc.... word to the wise make sure your nutes have a ph buffer, I was nutes from the Aerogarden before they had a buffer and I had no problem other than a little nute burn....

    Hi Tanuvan,
I'm giving turface a try. I've had 2 successful grows using the Hempy buckets and am half way through another using the Lucas method with GH micro and bloom. The HB mix is 3 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite. My res hole is 2 inches up from the bottom of an 11 gallon bucket. Pencil sized. Never had a problem with it clogging using this medium.
Always good to measure the run off.

Recently started a side by side of 4 Citral. Two in HBs using the 3 to 1 mix and 2 in HBs with half turface and half perlite.

Started in soil, then transplanted into 1 gallon hempys after they were an inch high. Nine days into it now. Using only ph 6.0 water so far. (Currently the turface HB get 60 percent of the water as the perlite/vermic HBs.) Roughly four days before going into flower they'll go into the 11 gallon buckets.

I'm having some major PH issues. Whatever I pour into my buckets, it comes out at 8+. I've tried everything from thouroughly rinsing my perlite to pouring in straight hydrogen peroxide (PH around 4), and it always comes out at 8+....I don't know what to do, it's killing my plants. Someone help please.

well lets first start with water supplies are you guys using tap water or r/o water.....i personally use only r/o as its base is zero an a ph at 6.5.....bigd sounds like you got nute burn vs ph issues it all could be related but what are the nute dose's you give an what strenth is the nutes npk value.....cirrus it sounds like you are haveing some troubles what kind of perlite are you using...what kind of nutes....how often do you feed an at what strength....imo i would get double the amount of strait r/o water an give your plants a flush....after you pour the last bit in test the ph again an see where it sits...by then it should have dropped to 6.5ish....also it takes time to correct problems so if you hitting your plants with a ton of shit everyday hoping for instant change your probly doing more harm then good....peace az

I use tap water. I'm using MG Perlite, it's all I could find. No nutes right now, just water. I spent 10 min flushing with tap water, no change. It still kept reading at 8+.

theres the problem...tap water....an perlite with nutes in it....its throwing the ph way off...you need to buy a few jugs of r/o water from the store...test their ph should be 6.5 then flush your plants with that....but first let the perlite dry a lil from the last flushing....peace az

Cirrus - After you use the r/o water to get things under control --- try letting your tap water sit out in a bucket for a few days, this lets the chlorine dissipate. Then check the PH level of the water and it should be around 6.0-6.5 or even lower, but if it's not you may have to use a little PH down.

And if you can't get the big bags of perlite from Home Depot, your hydro store or a garden shop; then go to Walmart - they have the Schultz brand and it does not contain added nutrients.

I was able to get my hydro store to order some for me at $24.96 for 6 cu ft, but it took almost 2 weeks to come in - in the meanwhile I found another place with a pretty good deal at Perlite : Hydroponic Supplies and Greenhouse Equipment for the Professional Grower, by CropKing Inc. they are only $10.50 for 4 cu ft and it is horticultural grade with no nutrients. The shipping to my mail box in the states ended up being about $14.00 so I will only use them in a pinch.

    Good luck with your grow...
