    Default Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Im about to start my first soil grow because Hydroponics is to complicated dealing with reservoir temp and light leaking in to reservoir the root rot so im thinking about using fox farm ocean forest. My plan is to start seed in red solo cup fill with Half FFOF and half pro mix. Then transplanting to 1gallon bucket of half filled with FFOF and half of promix with perlite. Then before flowering transplanting to 5 Gallon buckets filled 20% the way with perlite and the rest FFOF. Does this sound like a good idea?
Lights i will be using T5 4x2 for Veg and 600w hps for flowering
I will be using Advanced nutrients Grow, Micro and Bloom for veg and Big Bud for Flowering

Just be careful, FFOF can be a little on the hot side and you won't need alot of nutes......A 50/30/20 mix of FFOF/Happy Frog/Perlite would be the most successful mix of base soils, IMO.

Also, I'd skip the 1 gal transfer and go straight from solo cups to final pot. again, just my opinion.

Ok thanks I think I will go with your method of the 50/30/20. Also if i skip right to the final pot how do I water the plant so that I dont over water since its a big pot with little plant?

Also do you thnk I could get away with not feeding any nutrients untill Flower using the 50/30/20? I plan on switching to flower after about 5weeks because im not working with a giant amount of space?

I use ffof only from seed to harvest. I would say do not feed in the veg. I experimented a bit with this and the plant did not agree with it. I eventually trashed that plant. On my first try i did a regular feeding schedule and the plants seemed to burn a bit. On the next one i cut down to quarter nutes and half nutes on the other. Both plants produced well. I dont claim to be an expert so take it for what its worth.

I use happy frog for seedlings then go right into ocean forest.
I do not want to discuss growing marijuana with any grow gurus.I want to talk to people who, like me, know there are many different ways to grow great meds.

@ Villa when you use happy frog for seedlings did you just give it straight pH'd water, Also what pH do you start with?

Yes, if you use the 50/30/20 as mentioned, or just straight FFOF, nutes are not needed, just water with pH'ed water until flowering, and then ease into them. If you develop a nute deficiency it will be easy to spot AND even easier to identify since your variables are minimal.
