You have a long way to go my friend. First things first, what do you actually have available to you?
Are you growing inside or outside? I am assuming inside since you mentions lights. So what kind of lights do you have?
How big is the space you plan to grow in?
What kind of nutrients and soil do you have?
When you say special lighting there is really nothing special, I know it looks extensive but once you know whats actually going on its not all that special.
2 plants are generally easy to care for in a small space. Depending on the variety of seeds you get as well as the conditions you set for them will depend on the overall length of the grow. It can take anywhere from 60+ days as far as a full controlled grow.
Growing outside and planting in the beginning of the year would be a longer veg with bigger buds only because they are growing all year until its time to flower.
There are methods you can use to keep a plant small but depending on your ventilation, it will dictate how much lighting you can actually use because generally a healthy temperate range is 72-78 but then I see people growing between 80-85 and others like myself
who have to cope with a confined space and deal with temps that can go as high as 90. You don't want that because of the heat stress it can give the plants as well as slowed down growth. If you're really serious about growing, I suggest doing all your reading and learning first before getting your hands dirty for a more successful first grow. This video really helped me out as far as basics.
This guy has been around a long time and is a true green thumb. Not everyone takes his tips to heart but these are proven things that you can deviate from as you learn and try your own things out.
