I have some seedlings that are about 10 days old.
Currently under 24/0 light.
I know it is possible, but is it a good idea to put them into 12/12 right now to sex them, then chuck the males and revert the females to veg for a while.
Anyone know the negative affects of this?
The main reason I want to do it is because I currently have 5 seedlings growing in my veg cabinet, but for full growth in my closet I can only efficiently grow 4 plants, and I would rather get rid of the males early than spend money and time and get feelings and get attached them, then realize they have to be killed.
It was really tough getting rid of them in my current grow, and with my plants from seeds I did well and got 2 of 3 fems.

I read about doing this in a high times magazine, and they suggest it. But I tried to get an opinion on here and never got a response..

Theyre too small right now... and you can efficiently grow 4 plants but not 5?

u can do that but it will put stress on the plants and make them take a while longer to fully muture, but thats about it. so if you got the extra time give it a shot.

I can grow 4 plants kinda cramped actually, but 4 is the max. With 4 I can make a nice square of pots. But I wanted to sex them now and if I only had 1,2, or 3 fems I could go get clones to make 4 total plants.

yes you can do it, just not recommended

yeah, I think thats only for like people with limited space, so they dont have room to waste on males. So if this is the case then sure do it, but if not then dont

its going to stress your plant out alot, and its going to take the plant a while to reveg, and its just going to be all messy.

So unless you have to, I deffently would not
