Cutting off popcorn early

If its early in flower you can still lollipop. Just trim the sub branches a 3rd of the way up the stem. Everything above this point should grow into some nice buds. I used to do this but now I save the popcorn and start cutting them around week 7 of flower to have something to smoke before harvest and let the rest of the top buds finish. Everybody has their own technique. Just don't go chop happy. Trim a little bit every other day or so if its say past week 4 of flower. During veg you can take care of it all at the same time with little worries of stress if the plant is healthy. Happy growing!

With two of my plants (Green Poison at 56 days 12/12, Nirvana PPP at 46 days), I think I'm going to harvest the terminal buds first and then let the rest of the plant go until the lower popcorn buds get some maturity. Not 100% sure on the GP, the popcorn is not too far behind the terminals, but the PPP popcorn is really immature because of the tight node spacing of the plant. I think my GP has at least another week maybe more, not even close on the PPP.

^^ Cool, thanks. I sampled some popcorn two weeks ago on my Neville's Haze, lit me up for 3 or more hours. But then it was the first I'd smoked in 20+ years! I've since sampled a few more, and got close to the same results. That plant still has some time to go though, not showing any amber on the calyxes at 80 days!

Thats only one opinion in a million Instead of making hash I make use of popcorn early. Others let it mature after harvesting the main buds and others get rid of it all together and lollipop so energy is focused only on the top buds. Uncle Ben's method is not the only way, its all up to the individual grower.

Any buds that are gonna end up being popcorn get plucked off by me! It easy to tell around week 3-4 of flowering what needs to go!
I used to feel bad about raping my plants but after a few runs I quickly realized its pointless to leave the popcorn!
