If you don't flush a long cure will rid the bud of any unwanted chemicals. In my experience unflushed plants lead to harsh bitter smoke that doesnt taste too good and leaves a black ash. It also leaves a numbing feeling in my mouth and I get chest pains from all the leftover chemicals. A month long cure is the only way I have found to rid an unflushed plant of chemicals. This is...just my experience though. Im sure plenty would disagree with me but I know how I felt smoking unflushed herb and it is in no way better than a flushed plant with a nice cure.

Someone stated 7 - 14 days in soil, 1 - 5 in soiless/hydro system, I usually do 3 waterings (which ends up being 7 - 10 days) and I Sunshine #4 soils with organic notes. I have been around for 20 years grown or got from growers for 15 years. If someone grows with chemicals and doesn't flush, I can tell, don't know how others can say they don't. People say flushing is a waste of time, but not flushing is a waste of money, think about it, if you water 3 days before chop with nutrients is your plant going to be able to fully use up those notes, NO, by flushing the plant (in theory) it forces it to use up the last bit of nutrients remaining in it's stems/roots.

I have tried both ways, to flush or not to flush. Though not flushing may slightly increase your yield. Flushing actually cleans out the harshness and allows your smoke to smoke right.

2 weeks b4 you plan on chopping,
flush 3 times the amount of soil with water
3 gal pots equals 9 gals of water through it.
    water should be phed 6.5
wait 3 to 4 days b4 watering again.
thhis time water the normal amount until there is slight runoff,
but do not ph your water. Phing your water allows the plant to take up nutrients properly, you
want to stop your plant from absorbing them
wait again until your soil is dry this time do 1 more flush with sledgehammer flush by fox farms,
but only flush with 1 and 1/2 times amount of water as the pot so 3 gal pot equals 4.5 gallons, mix 2
teaspoons per of sledgehammer per gallon of water.
Wait until soil is al most dry, remove plants from room and let sit in dark for at least 24 hrs b4 you chop and hang.
letting them sit in the dark will bring out the FROSTYS. I know I tried it. Comes out with a shitload of trics

You bring up the other highly debated subject with finishing.... the dark period. I don't think you see much results from 24 hours of darkness before chop, I've done 24/48/72 hours of darkness with the same cut, all I can say is I need further research to determine if there really is a difference, not saying there is not but can't say there is.

I flush for 3 weeks in Coco. Not overwatering, not copious amounts of water, just plain ol phd water, whenever the plant needs it.
I dont try to "remove" nutrients, just let the plant use up what it has stored.

I have a friend who barely feeds his plants at all. They are not super green, or super healthy looking. But, he always has great tasting smoke.

I do 24-48 hours of darkness out of convenience all the time. I just don't have time to get to it, so they sit in darkness. I have never noticed a difference.

    I dry over 21 days.

3 wk flush in coco, 21 day drying, cure 6-8 wks in mason jars = good tasting buds.

Ive found that drying in a tight space with passive intake and a really weak exhaust fan (no circ fans) on a timer works really well.

adjust as the product drys more. But if you exhaust for 15, then let it sit for 45, it sort of cures while drying. This is more true when you really fill your space.
first 5 days of dry fans are on 24hrs a day. By the end of the dry cycle, my weak little fan only comes on 2-3 times a day for 15 minutes.

The more I hang out on RIU though, the more I find out i tend to overdo some things...

    As always, just my opinions.

It works like a vaporizer. We'll get stoned through the vents on the way there.

in no way im bashing you, im just curious, assuming your a smoker, your the first ive heard to say it lol

Nah, just me, not the weed. While i know that most of what i can buy in my town DOES taste like shit, doesn't matter if it's my own stuff, other peoples, stuff from amsterdam, the highest grade to be had from the best dealers in London, all of it tastes like kack. I have a huge aversion to smoke, my throat ust cannot handle it, normally i have to throw a joint away once it get's to the halfway point before it starts doing physical damage to my throat. Same with tobacco. I can taste when one is a nicer strain than another, but it all just tastes or harsh burnt stuff to me bit annoying really but oh well, could be worse.

Try out just barely feeding your plants at all. Just enough to keep them going.
My friend does this and his smoke is incredibly smooth. Although the yield is lighter.

Along with that, i notice most people on here dry their buds for 5-10 days. Try a slow 3 week dry, it makes all the difference.

If you grow a strain that is mold susceptible, like say, Romulan... then I would not recommend a 3 wk dry.

As i say, it's not the quality of the bud, my body just has an aversion to smoke of any kind.

I see. I just figured a harsher smoke would do more damage than a smoother smoke.

    The buddha vaporizer. $200US.

Have a buddha, a volcano and a Vapir No 2.

The Buddha is my favorite, for personal use. Volcano for group.
