    Default Quick LST Question

    • Okay chaps, I am coming up for another tying down within the next few days but, being new to LSTing, I don't know whether to tie the new growth coming from the stems or just leave them. I will obviously be tying down the main stem around the pot but I think I have heard that some also tie down the new growth. Does this increase the yield? The RED is the new growth and the BLUE is the top of the plant.

      Any advice will help!

      Peace.

LST is used to get more light to the inner canopy, not necessarily increasing yield as topping would/does, but it makes the inner buds get mroe light and making htem grow better. so yes. it wil increase your yield BUT not as much as topping or other methods.

Whether to tie down that new growth is up to you. Some depends on how long you want to veg before flipping to flowering. Ideally, with LST you would like your colas to be coming up as evenly as possible. Its hard to be perfect with it, but its something you try to aim to do so they get relatively equal light across your canopy. So, whatever you think best achieves that. Your plant wont care, it looks healthy and its gonna grow no matter.

I tied down all the new growth once it started pulling away from the main stem (height wise) to keep the canopy even ...

I didn't even have room to tie the tip down all the way around bc all that new growth you're seeing will get nice and big if not bigger than the main tip...I tied down all of them bc I'm kinda OCD and I wanted the canopy even and all my area filled at all times

Nice plants btw reminds me of when I first LSTd this season...here's what you have to look forward to...I transplanted and retied once to Smartpots about a week ago

I would not tie the red sections down rather wait a week and top them. Looks great good job, I have one going now as well about the same stage maybe a little behind. It is at GF's house going over there to check it out and tie it down more today at some point.
