Metal Halide Lights For Vegging?
Should I use a metal halide light during the vegging stage? Or a high pressure sodium?
I like CMH for veg and flowering.
MH is traditional for veg. CFLs and T5s work well also. cn

Use MH if you can throw a lot of light at it. Use HPS if you have lower wattage. Either will work if you can throw enough light down, not enough light, either will stretch but HPS will stretch more.
Alternatively add blue/UV/actinic light (such as provided by aquarium T5s) to limit stretch if running an HPS during veg. The added blue is also a good, good thing in flower. Jmo. cn

Use the HPS for vegging and flowering. The MH light generates a lot more heat than the HPS and there
is little or no difference in growth, for me. You'll need a fan for sure if you stay with the MH.

I use cfls and a 200 mh for vegging and the plants always have such tight nodes and stay short and bushy, even if its a sativa dominant strain. use MH for vegging or at least a couple weeks, trust me its worth it
