It will smell at that range. even if just a lite draft of wind comes by.
does 20 ft mean above their head?
I have 2 hybrid clones that I want to put on my roof, I think it just might be a perfect spot to grow, my neighbors tree is so big and bushy is covers a huge part of my roof. I could literally put 5 plants and they wouldn't even be seen. I'm just worried about the smell, I have a one story house and my neighbors front door is about 25 feet away, sidewalk about 20 feet away and remember it is on my roof. They will start flowering in August, there will be a nice breeze. It's generally a quite neighborhood, never see neighbors out too much, no one really walks by to often, the leaves blend in with the color of the tree. The roof is also slanted, I am going to build a support for the plants though.
All feedback is appreciated.

"Wheels are made for rolling, mules are made to pack
I've never seen a sight that didn't look better looking back
I was born under a wandrin' star"
you could always look into getting strains with minimal smell.
4/20 is an everyday-day
a calm day and lite down draft may get attention.

Yeah that's what I was thinking but I want something dank, lol.... I don't think my neighbors would trip, I know one of them would be cool with it, the other I never see outside really. I talked to him one time over the fence when I was smoking a blunt, never know he might puff....
If questioned(by your neighbors) couldn't he just use the excuse of "I have a med card and I didn't want small animals getting at my plants." as an excuse? Although actually I'd be concerned about small animals possibly knocking down your plant and have it take a long tumble. Unless you have a flat top house, but even then. I doubt you're going to be able to avoid the smell if you're growing 2 and most definitively not 5.

It isnt going to smell noticeably until its well into flowering. Man, I did that one year thinking nobody could see them. This neighbor one time clueless as she was got me one time with other people around and started shoutin HEY WHATS THAT UP ON YOUR ROOF?
Although she really had no idea.....Probably now it was a good thing because I made a decision to go ahead and buy a light.
.....and boy, one thing lead to another after that !!
But no more clues would ever appear outside these walls ever again. Even supplies I haul in by cover of darkness![]()

Hahaha, I don't think it will be seen honestly you need to see how perfect the spot looks, i'm not going to let it get bigger then the branches covering it, which is like 6 feet. I'm going to build a small support deck so the plants won't fall. I'll take some pictures in a hour when mom leaves for work haha, then you guys can tell me what you really think.
