i'm not really much for taking pics, but i DID find an early one i took of the LSD at the start of flowering. i'm mostly into the smoke reporting thing. i get so effing annoyed at grow reports that are all pics and lists of nute levels and temps down to the minute, but that suck out on the ONLY thing that matters, HOW IT SMOKES. if it's stoney, i despise it. i will smoke fluffy, little, barely resinous looking wild grass smelling columbian gold ANY DAY over the most "bag appealing" strain you can pull because bag appeal is schwag appeal to me. it's indica propaganda to me.
sadly, the colors hadn't deepened yet revealing those cool "fish ribs" you can just make out in the pic and the resin hadn't started frosting yet. this is the best pic i took of the plant. i made a point of taking more pics this year and got every plant in at least 1 pic.
i think that halide bulbs bring out grape flavors in haze related strains. not only was my LSD a little grapey along with the similar mataro blue, but super cali haze tasted like straight up grape juice and joey weed's C99 had some grapiness to their odor too, but when i grew a C99 BX and a super cali x C99 under my sodium, the flavors were more generic fruity and none of the hazes or jacks were particularly grapey though they were mostly fruity too.
maybe it was the specific soil mix i was using too. that can make a difference as well. all kinds of things can make the same plant act very different in different rooms.
maybe a big part of the flavors i got was how much cooler that big spare room with constant cold air inflow was compared to the little one simply blowing heat out through a duct fan. temps were generally up to 80 degrees this time around.
all i know is that i REALLY like JS' sativa trans-love. it makes really nice haze buds faster than anything. the ONLY plant i had that flowered faster was my little masterkush autos with their totally uninspiring mid high with stone. until i try apollo 11 or some other fast "indoor haze", STL is my go to gal for fruity haze buds asap and DNA's sweet haze is my connoisseur grade haze with haze skunk & jack's cleaner 2 being my heavy hitters. STL just has a better buzz than C99 and especially LSD and is fruitier too. i expect to use it a lot in breeding in place of C99 for shrinking IBLs without adding that dreaded afghani stink & stone. i never would have known had i not gotten a freebie. any grower that has something worthy of showing off should offer freebies to get the word out.
i guess i just got a more indica pheno with my LSD than others have as their descriptions sound less stony and no one had the haze odor phenos i got. even though it wasn't particularly strong, that sweet cat "piss" (more like territory marking) odor in early flowering made me a little nauseous, probably bringing back memories of actual cat piss a former roomate's cat marked my closet with and the time i bought some actual cat piss bud a couple years ago. i could have accepted that if it weren't for the stone.
ALL of these fruity jacks & hazes smoke better than LSD to me even if they aren't as fast or compact:
thai skunk - high quality seeds (their haze skunk smokes nicer if not as tasty)
amnesia haze - rokerij (dirt cheap and no worse than it's rivals)
jack - CH9 seeds (might have been the trippiest after sweet haze, but got lost in the shuffle, re-testing)
auto jack - female seeds (for an auto, it was slower flowering than many other strains & hadn't improved it's THC profile enough to embarrass anything else it was going up against. it was still very good as most of the strains were, but not outstanding like sweet haze is)
sweet haze - DNA genetics (the BEST tasting & smoking fruity sativa, a little on the slow & stretchy side, but with extra quality to compensate. i expected thai skunk to be better after experiencing HQS' sickly potent haze skunk)
thai fantasy - kannabia (too similar to the others to stand out)
sativa trans love - makes bud & resin like a cash cropping indica
super lemon haze - greenhouse (yep... there stuff DOES suck! i didn't get the dreaded hermies i see reported a lot, but it took almost a month to stop mutating and grow out normal leaves. by the time it started flowering too, all the other strains i tested were already making similar to much better buds. it'd be OK if it was all you could get your hands on, but STL has the same buzz way faster and sweet haze has a clearly better buzz and is faster too.
super cali haze - short stuff (really wowed me with it's authentic grape flavor, but it's buzz was pretty similar to everything else here otherwise and another grower who's tried it was unimpressed and claimed it had a short lived buzz. at the time, it was only the 2nd haze i'd smoked and it was close enough to the other that i couldn't pick out a difference without a side by side comparison. now, i'm inclined to call sweet haze "the best" until i try someone else's that's better.
LSD - barney's farm (eh... just not impressed... it looks sexy and makes dense really sticky buds, but i see it as pointless with that stone still intact. ANY of the other strains smoke better and sweet haze in particular has the trippiest strain other than maybe jack. i'm giving that one a 2nd try to make sure as well as more euphoric jack 33.
mataro blue - kannabia taller and stretchier than LSD, but otherwise very similar with the difference being that LSD's stone starts as lead eye and mataro's is more of a body stone. both get you a little high to start and then put you to sleep in an hour or two.
C99 - joey weed (you can't get it anymore, but his phenos leaned towards haze qualities too. it's a very fast finishing strain in just 45 days and has no couchlock with a nice euphoric and clearheaded motivational buzz very similar to 17 week kali mist. it's a great strain, but only for activities. the other "indoor hazes" have a more neutral energy profile, some with stone even, and they have more psychoactivity making them more 24/7 fun as you can chill out with tunes or movies on them. it's too specific a buzz to be a favorite, but a total go to strain for annoying tasks and getting dates revved up quickly.
i'd bet a lot of TGA subcool's grapes & fruit strains are even better than most of these as his jack's cleaner 2 kicks EVERYTHING's ass i've ever tried that i can put a name to except maybe columbian gold and even then, it does some things better. i'm really keen to try his agent orange & A13 vortex next. where barney throws the word "trippy" out for LSD, JC2 delivers the goods for real as advertised as i'm sure all of TGA's other strains would match their descriptions. i bet his A13 x urkel (whatever it's called) is some really fun grapey high with a lot of attention to detail that defines a star breeder.
