Starting seedlings and not having to transplant
Ive noticed the last year or so when I go buy a plant, tomato, flowers what ever. They are in small square Biodegradable pots. With that said why not put your seed in one of those and planting directly into what will be your final pot. After a few weeks the first pot breaks down right around the time your seedling is ready to be transplanted. It just simply punches its roots through the now broke down container resulting in 0 stress or risk of having to transplant.
Just a thought I am going to try it today at some point.

Some of those small biodegradeable pots may not be deep enough. I think the radicle plunges down 4 and a half inches before the cotelytdons break the soil. I think this is one of the many ways I fucked up my first grow

it'll work fine. you will miss out on the benefits of transplanting up to final container, though.......... denser root ball; more rapid growth.

Yes it does shoot down very far but there are open wholes at the bottom of those things they will find their way through. Heck how many of us have started one in red plastic beer cup. They make it.

In my limited experience with the biodegradable cow pots, they didn't always decompose fast enough. So what I would do is cut the bottom off. An alternative to cow pots is old toilet paper rolls filled with coir or peat. Oh and for larger plants, you can double up on paper grocery bags.
