Whats your guys opinion on topping, fimming, scrog?
Im growing some plants for the first time (been researching for years) and was wondering if I should top, fim, or scrog them.
I could do each of them different, you no try out all three methods. But I was wondering if there was a certain one that would increase the yeild more than the other?
Or if you peeps think I should just not use any but I have my mind wrapped around doing these methods because I think they would increase the yeild
Any help would be awesomeee
is suppercropping when you top them again or is it when u bend the branches down with string. And do you think it increases the yeild (might be dumb question lol)
on your first grow I would sit down and clearly list your particular setups assets, and flaws, then decide which particular method of growing is best for you. If this only took a month I feel like I would always recommend people do their first grow untopped, so they can watch marijuana go through the growth phases from seed to harvest unhindered, and then use that newfound experience in applying it to the second grow and beyond.
ask yourself:
how much space do I have
what medium do I plan to grow in
how many plants do I want to grow
how am I going to provide enough light for that space given my plant count
how am I going to control enviromental factors of the grow area once I've added plants, growth medium, and hot ass lightbulbs of various types
This will help you figure out what you need to do to your plants to "dial them in " for your needs.
Heres a pic of some bag seed (blue dream) early on in the topping and training period, and a pic of it later after transplant next to another variety I allowed to go untopped (Cali connection Blackwater, same age). I'll try and stop by again and post a pic of it now as its been quite some time. looking very nice though.
totally understand your answer man, but im growing outdoors and have a bunch of space. I also have alot of plants so i atleast want to try some method out on a couple of plants, ya know? Ive been amazed ever since the first day i herd u can "manipulate' the way plants grow lol (like 4th grade)
yes with fiming u cut off 80% of the teminal node and u get many tops. with topping u only get 2 new main tops, i find fiming work better with clones. suppercropping in pinching the stems till they "pop" and it grow a thick knot in that spot
growing from seed or clone? Outdoors, you might as well just let them rip, unless you're worried about 10 foot plants (which many of us are). I always felt topping was more of an indoor thing because you could control the light cycle. A plant topped outdoors is still on the same course as the one untopped. If you are continously training during the vital veg months, you might not have enough raw canopy to yeild big (like the untopped plant definitly will have). That being said, nugbuckets is trying his tech outdoors as well, shooting for 16 even top colas on each plant.
