how much bigger the buds will get after hairs are starting to go brown? Are they not growing anymore or I can expect another little boost? I think I have about 20 days to go, and I am curious to know if what I see now is pretty much what I will get>? thanks

Keep going and you'll soon find out. Patience is important. It's not so much a matter of when the hairs start turning brown as when they stop popping out white. White is new, brown is old, if it's still growing you'll see plenty of white.

Be careful though, some strains will pop out white hairs right up until harvest day(and past it for that matter). I generally gague my harvest by when my hairs ar 75% browns. I generally check with a scope as well.

Lately i have just been watching the hairs and waiting till everything has swollen and the hairs have receded propely. My recent harvests have been quite nice.

Just about every strain will do that. I'm just saying that it's not really easy to gauge how much bigger the plants will get from the first signs of brown hairs. That varies too much. Sometimes I get my first browning hairs at 4 weeks, lol.

It has been just over 4 weeks, switch to flower on Nov.15th, The website I bought the seeds from said 56days for the AK, and about 60 for Grapefruit and BlueMystic. I should expect them to keep growing slowly to the end or they usually stop growing? thanks

I just finished up a Super OG run... Those bitches were throwing out white hairs all the way up to harvest... I held off a little because of the hairs and some were a little overdone... So go by the trichomes....

I guess it's the standard response of...buy a radioshack microscope. Like 8$ to check the trichs.

Most plants put on their majority of weight at around week 4-6 and slow down a week or two before harvest, ones that finish around 50-60 days that is, some sativas don't even really flower for the first 4 weeks.

4 weeks? Yeah, they will keep on growing...lol. When they stop growing, they are done. Until then, they keep on packin' it on....

november 15th is the day I switch to 12/12 ,. so depending on how you count the days, it's more like 5 weeks. but yeah thats good to hear anyway :)

I flipped on about the same day. We've got some time to go, don't worry. We're probably at 50% of the total size/weight. The longer it takes the better right? If they are this big at 5 weeks, hopefully they'll be much bigger at 8 weeks, 9 weeks and hopefully my strain goes 10 weeks, 'cause that means they'll end up even bigger.

thanks for the reply! I am hoping that they don't go too long because if they are not ready by the 20th I think I won't have time for another round this year... but if that is because they get twice the size they are right now, I ll be happy anyway!!

If it's between getting a whole 'nother round in or letting it go another week...........get another round in ;). They will be fine by the 20th if they have to be.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm also growing AK and I also switched the lights to 12/12 5 weeks ago.
And just like Endur0xX I also got brown hairs after just 5 weeks. The buds are not fully developed, at least they don't look like they are.

How did this grow turn out for you? Did they get significantly fatter/fuller?

Id go by the coloration of the trich's a lil more than Id go by a percentage of coloration of the stigmas... I have alot of new flowers even when my main colas are very ripe, and I usually chop whatz ready and let the rest continue to flower out... I like my trich's to be mostly milky, with hints of amber... And if thatz the case, most of the stigmas will be whatever color they turn as well...

I bought micro scope but tricks on sugar leave on my plant are different than in bud which one should I be looking at.

Always check the buds not the sugar leaves. Every thing i have learned on here is the trichs on the leaves mature much faster than on the calyxes
