It might never appear. a lot of purple weed is "made" purple with cold temps. plus you do not know how the purple weed you had was pollinated. might have green leaning traits or been dominated from a green pheno. enjoy the smoke either way!
Im growing from a seed I found in a bag of some kinda purp, and im just wondering when the purple color starts to appear im 7 weeks into flower. Shes a hybrid.

heard if you pull the plant out roots and all (at harvest time) shake out the dirt and put on ice for a day or 2 it will turn your buds purple, never tried it but worth looking into if you want purple. wont make the weed any better tho, least i dont think.
anyways gl
I'm not sure about the ice method mentioned, but I do know cold temps will cause the foliage to turn purple. From what I understand, It's basically the same thing as colder weather turning leaves on trees color, in the Fall.
Also,...yes, there are some strains/phenos that'll have purple hues, naturally. I had a Crystal plant that would turn about half purple, during late flowering, at about 80* temps. Looked cool, half purple and half yellow. One of my Ice phenos had purple in it too, maybe 20%.

Some strains are purple like a mofo through genitics, some have a propensity for color change through low temperatures during the end of flowering. For some strains, I have seen actual breeder recommendations of freezing the plant right after harvest to promote color change. You can take that info for what its worth. For me, I dig the fuck outta growing purple plants. I've only grown "Sweet Purple" a few times an I gotta tell ya, the're a rush to look at every day. I'm waiting for Herbies to get in some Purple Wreak seeds, I'm amped to give that a go.
So this cold method sesms rather populsr you all mentioned it. Ive just seen in pics purple bud while its growing and so far I havent seen it I was so excited purples my fav color first grow so im new to this. Lots u can mess up around this time.
hahaha color is all genetics and has nothing to do with temperatures. Show me proof of this and I will blow you right here and right now.
Plus purple has nothing to do with potency another myth
There are two common ways that plants turn purple.
1. Genetics. (It could very well be the pheno that you've got doesn't hold a purple trait/characteristic)
2. Cold. When night temperatures drop into the 60's during flowering some strains will begin turning purple.
Simple.
