So I have family wanting to grow in Colorado, and we have been unable to find a real answer about what the punishment for growing is and if it varies with the quantity or number of plants. Have done some searching but you now how it goes reading legal mumbo jumbo.
The biggest concern is the children in the house. ( 2 under 6 yrs) Obviously every precaution would be taken to seclude children from grow area. I know it's illegal but is it like prison time illegal or just maybe some fines?? Any knowledge would be great. |

Pretty much just grow under 100 plants and your fine. Also the drug laws arent what they use to be, they have all been decriminalized since then. You can never get life in prison for drugs anymore. Dont worry about the laws, just be descrete. The law is not broken if no one knows about it.

Under present Colorado law, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana for personal consumption is punished by a summons and fine of one hundred dollars. Some people have proposed that the current penalty be replaced by a jail term of up to six months. Based on studies from other states, replacing the current system of fines with a system of potential jail sentences would cost Colorado well over 10 million dollars a year, without making a dent in marijuana use. While the Legislature might determine that the cost is a worthwhile expense, this large fiscal obligation, like any other large expenditure, should be incurred only after thorough consideration of its implications.
The Colorado Constitution requires that all bills by the General Assembly pertain to only one topic, and that the topic be "clearly expressed" in the title. House Bill1173 violates the "one topic" and "clear title" Constitutional rules, and may therefore be extremely vulnerable to a lawsuit to block enforcement. The Constitution and common sense both suggest that the Legislature be careful about enacting laws which will be readily overturned on procedural grounds. |

Actually I have the same question about Indiana, I can't believe I didn't think of this before I started germination. And being a member of this website and posting my thoughts and what I may or may not do, am I running a risk of being watched more closely or something. I actually am being asked this because it's my mom's house and she wants to know if her house will be watched or something. I said we would have to do something in order for them to even look for a reason to watch us. But fmi, does anyone know the laws of Indiana on pot plants and growing?

Well discretion is always best but any prison time would be a lifetime to me so it's always good to be educated on the risks. 100 plants sounds like a ton but I have heard that before. Under 100 plants not a big deal 100-101 big trouble. Not sure how true all that is but someone forwarded me this site and it's great cuz it cuts all the bs and just gives the facts.

wow, a lot of issues.
a) what are my local laws? It's not cheap, but pay a local lawyer to find out. Anyone else who gives you advice is an amateur and you're just as likely to get good advice from your dog the next time you get high. b) Am I being tracked here or exposing myself to more risk by posting here. Holy shit is this complex. Last week I heard rollitup say that he doesn't track IPs. That's good if it's true. But your IP and activity could still be tracked by a local ISP. You can obfuscate some information about your connection via anonymous browsing via torpark, Torrify but it's slow and annoying. I use it, but it's not nice. Even then, if you tell people too much about yourself then they may be able to figure out who you are. c) YOU DIDN'T ASK THIS QUESTION BUT IT'S RELEVANT. Are my pictures anonymous? ABSOLUTELY NOT. There are many problems with pictures. I post my pictures but you need to be really good to post pictures anonymously. Be sure that you never registered your camera to you. If you can, scrub your info from the meta tags in your pictures, and then never post a picture that might provide info about you. And with the current high resolutions of cameras...you could easily goof up and take a picture that will lead to identification of yourself. Good luck with your grow, your kids, and with staying anonymous. And please vote for people that support legalization so we can stop all this stress about getting caught.

not to be a pain in the ass...but growing in some states is still a REALLY SERIOUS OFFENSE. I don't have kids but if you do and it's a concern for you then you really should drop $100 to talk to an attorney to see what they can tell you.
A website is nifty...but it's not the same thing as life experience. Much as I hate it, lawyers have a monopoly on their knowledge. While the law may state that growing is only worth 6 months in county...your local attorney will know that the local judge has a beef about weed and that he will add a felony charge for the gun you have on the property to the weed charge. Now you're facing 18 months in a state facility(THIS MEANS BIGGER DUDES THAT WANT TO FUCK YOU) So anyhow, I grow and I encourage you to grow. But if your recreations are affecting those that you love...please see a local attorney to get advise.
