I have 6 plants about 36" tall in Veg. I have 2 monster girls in my Flower room and I think they won't be ready for 2 - 3 weeks. Can I start the veging plants into flower using my 400W MH light the total area is 4 x 4' What do you think I am afraid that they will get to big for the grow room if I let them veg. for 2 more weeks.

you can flower with a mh but it wont do them that great, why not just get a spare bulb and change it over with your mh

What green says sounds like the most logical thing to do. Get a spare bulb (they come in handy anyway). Those girls in the veg room are already very big you don't want to wait.

Ignore the two dickhead mushbrains above, their advice is poor and ill thought through, probably because Mogie couldn't find the question asked and answered somewhere else so he can't copy and paste a reply.

You've got two choices here for your situation. 1) Put them into flowering 12/12 with the Metal Halide for the first 2-3 weeks. It isn't ideal as the MH bulb doesn't output as much of the red/orange spectrum as a HPS would which is the correct PAR spectrum of light most used in the flowering phase, but the photoperiod would be enough to tell which sex they are (if they're not female clones) and would output enough of that spectrum to get flowering underway. It may extend your flowering period a little. 2) Buy a conversion bulb for MH that outputs more of the red/orange spectrum and use that in the MH to go 12/12. Conversion bulbs do not output as many lumens as a standard MH bulb would though.

Don't follow their advice and simply put a HPS bulb into a MH system (unless it's a confirmed switchable one) it may work, but all you'll do is shorten the life of the bulb and it will be a waste of money.

That is what i would do as well, i started flowering my girls under cfl's, then switched to hps, doing fine.

for one, dont call people dickheads for no reason. you have no right to. and for two, mogie isnt a HE, dickhead. you seriously need to chill out because the advice they gave would work fine in that person situation. was it the best possible solution? maybe not. but it certainly didnt warrant the reply that you gave. and if youre so knowelegable, go start your own fuckin site and leave ours alone. ive been a memeber here for a lot longer than most, and for the past month or two, a lot of assholes like you have been voicing their opinions where they arent wanted. if you have any problems mogie or greenthumb, PM rollitup with your complaint. otherwise take greenthumbs advice on the buttplug. thanks
