Auto or Regular with Short Veg?

hey all im currently on my first grow pretty bumpy but i expected that. Anyways i was already contemplating my next grow and im trying to decide if im going get a better yield with an auto flower (auto assassin) or by vegging 2-3 plants for 2-3 weeks and keeping them as short as possible by keeping my lighting close. I know this varies by strain and stuff but i would like to seem some general opinions on the subject given my specific parameters. My grow space is about 35"T x 22"L x 16"W of actual usable grow space after filtration and lights are taken into account. Im using 190W of cfl and 28W of LED side lighting. Now autos would naturally stay small enough where as i would need a short veg (like 2-3 weeks I think) to keep reg plants small enough. However, I know this will decrease yield. Not really sure which way to go. Anoter perk of the autos is i could stagger the plants by a month or so and always have a constant harvest going. Not sure what to do. What do YOU (experienced growers) think???

I've never grown indoors. But I've seen plenty of them on here over the past couple of years - auto and regular. Here's a link to a journal I followed awhile back:

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/202836-nirvana-northern-lights-feminised-x4.html

That guy had good results with a small space, using regular seeds, 12/12 from seed. If you have the room, no reason why you couldn't veg for a couple of weeks.

In my opinion, that will give you better results (and a bigger variety of more potent strains) than autos. I've grown a few autos, but all outdoors. So far, I haven't found a strain that I prefer over a regular photoperiod plant.

hey i just read that journal pablo. looks like a great method naysayers be damned, that method def produced results and those yields are plenty for me. Now since you have growing experience since im only using 190w of lighting instead of 350w should i give a week or two of veg to achieve similar yields since mine will grow slower? or am i just gonna get smaller yeilds period, or will be able to pull the same yields just in longer time? Def doing that next grow ( couple weeks into my first might do it this time). What do you think?

Autos are junk and were a waste of my time. Get an early strain and you will be so happy and if you like it enough yo can keep it and control its veg time. I think autos are good if you live outdoors in a short season imo.

ya im really thinking full size strains with little to no veg is gonna be the way to go for me. I only need personal smoke for me and my friend so a 3mo harvest of 2-3oz would be perfect for my purpose.

I suppose it depends on how many plants you are trying to fit in that space. I didn't compare the size you have to work with to that of the one in the journal - I just know that his issue was also space limitations. And, like yourself, didn't need a boatload of weed to be content.

As you know, the more watts the better. You can definitely have decent results with 190 watts (plus the 28 watt LEDs) - even with 2 plants.

I don't think the difference in watts will make your plants grow slower. I think they should mature in the same amount of time - the difference would be in the yield.

I'd suggest checking out the indoor growing forum and doing a search for other 12/12 grows. If you start a journal, other folks will probably chime in with advice along the way. Best of luck!

ok well do you think that extra maybe week of veg would put me in the ballpark or not really make a difference? I would probs do 2 pots 2 plants each. Also it goes from 70-80 in the summer here(where i will have to at least stay at 8 cfls) to a steady -10 or colder in the winter (where i could probs get away with 10-14 cfls). This means during the dead of winter i could get away with around 230-320w of lighting. at any rate thanks for the great info +rep
