How to lower the humidity?

I am wondering if any of you have any ideas on how to lower the humidity in a grow room without a dehumidifire? I read somewhere that you could use some kind of salt or kitty litter? Has anyone tried this or any other cheap ways to do it???

THANKS! +REPS

Desiccants. I use 'em in my car to keep humidity/moisture levels down when in storage. A lot of department stores and most home centers sell them. The brand I use and see everywhere is Damp-Rid. Good stuff. I buy it by the bucket load.

get a stronger exhaust system. vent the old air outside. the air from outside your grow room should seep inside the grow room. chances are the humidity will be lower outside the grow room than inside.

If you check my grow journal you will see my setup. Its in my basement and I have a 700+ something cfm fan. I think the fan goes from like 600-1000 cfm. The air is ran through my light and exhausted out of the room. The room is also not sealed/airtight. I have one fan in there right now. Do you think adding another oscilating fan would help?

No.
Well, maybe a tiny bit but not much.

An even cheaper alternative might be. Rock salt "or any salt, bigger granules are better, less likely to clog the holes" and kitty litter. Cut the top off of some 2 liter soda bottles "or any containers", poke some pin holes in the bottom of one and add the salt to it, add the kitty liter to the other. Put the one with salt on top of the one with kitty litter "tape together" and leave the top of one with salt open. From what I read it works best with a fan blowing on it and replace the litter and salt as needed. The salt attracts the moisture then it drips down into the container of liter and the kitty liter traps it there.

I dont even know what spouting means? I have checked into getting the problem with the water away from the house and it was quite expensive. So that is just not going to happen. Im not sure about the vent either.

I'm not sure how well they work, meaning how much one will reduce the humidity in a room. But I was having a problem with moisture building up on my window in the morning (10' x 8' room). I added 2 to my room and have no such problem now, so they do help, I'm uncertain how much, as I don't have a hygrometer yet.
