HPS for SOG Grow

hey all. im planning a SOG grow setup, possibly switching to SCROG in the future. since MH is used for vegging plants could I use only HPS since Im not trying to grow more than only one cola per plant anyways? For clones and seedlings Im using a simple t-12 with 40w daylight bulbs. What does everyone think? and is a 600w HPS good for covering 2.5' X 4.5' in a SOG? Thanks folks. I need the experts advice on this one.

i have a 10 plants under one 600 in about a 8 by 8 square ( roughly id measure it but the lights are off) and i have plenty of room to make several colas on a single plant and i think it would way possible to veg and flower with solo hps (tho ive never tried vegging with hps) hope this helps good luck brotha

sog -see of green. You can keep your clones under your t-12 set-up then put under the hps set-up right after. If you are in soil just use small containers like solo cups I think they are 16oz cups. You can trim all the lower leaves off so only the top cola get all the nuts and light. If numbers are not an issue the more the marrier.

The other thing you might want to look into is a light mover.

The only issue that I have with this is that you will have to water them every 0ther day. It gets tirering after awhile. But it works. You try a combo of ebb and flow with sog so you can flood the tray. I'm think of doing this after I have found a diy for the ebb and flow table.

youll be fine w/ hps for veg/flower. its a good bit better than using mh for both veg/flower (which ive done, the colas werent as thick as hps). im not good w/ square footage, but about how many plants were you going for? since its sog i guess youre just tryin to fill it up.

im using the same thing for my clones, i got my t12 worklight with two 40watt bulbs at home depot for 13 bucks.
