Scrog question

I am trying a scrog for the first time. I already had a few plants in veg that were fairly large, so I built a scrog tall enough to accommodate them. I need to gain a little experience, but it's going ok.

I have about 14-18 inches between the top of the soil and the scrog. There are some branches underneath that will never make it up through and probably won't get enough light to even make decent popcorn. Is it better to leave those branches and have energy diverted to their growth, or remove them, causing stress?

I'm also doing a first time scrog right now, but from what I've seen on here, people remove the leaves and new growth underneath the screen where the light doesn't get too that much. But then again I've also seen people leave that stuff there in order to save to make hash with. I think its more up to your own personal taste on this one. I'm pretty sure that by removing the lower leaves and stuff, the plant concentrates on making the buds above it more...If any of this helps I don't know but hey I'm trying lol

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if that was what was meant by lollipopping, now I know :)
