There are thousands of scenarios to choose from and it all boils down to a matter of opinion in many cases. In my Opinion that is absolutely possible.

Yes, since there is always new growth, some of the buds will ripen before others.

Right. You might want to harvest some parts of your plant before others. I spent this summer growing veggies, and to be honest, cannabis is that same, just different. With veggies, there are peppers or tomatoes that will ripen before other ones. So you pick the ripe ones first. You let the others grow a bit longer. Cannabis is the same way. The ones closest to the lights, will most likely mature to your liking first, check the trichs. So harvest those. Let the others grow a bit longer, week or so. Then if they look ripe, harvest them. There is no rule or law that says that you have to harvest the whole plant at once. Snip your top cola's first, if they are ready first, let the buds on the stem grow a bit longer, then take them. At least that is what my growing experience with veg's has shown me. All plants are the same. Just different strains, kinds, etc.

yep i agree with you. alot of people so other wise but i like to harvest the ones that are ready. th eonly thing i dont like about not cutting the own plant down is. i tend to like to dry the whole plant. gives it a better flavor to me

wannaquickee, I like your name lol. I am about 3 or 4 wks away from my first harvest, so I don't know the difference yet between cutting it all down at once vs. a bunch at a time. But, I think I will do it that way, because I want to be able to use up all of the plant. I am using CFL, and the main problem, and only one that I know of so far, is that the light isn't as strong as an HID. So, those buds that are for sure forming toward the bottom of the stem, branch, what have you, are not receiving the same intensity of light as the top cola's. With HID they do. So, with cfl, I think it would be smart to cut the top cola. Then let the rest mature for a wk or so. Then snip them. If I had a good HID, I would probably be able to cut it all down at once.
