alright, well i'm approaching 3 weeks of 12/12 (tomorrow is day 21) and here are some pics. buds are starting to put on some mass, they are feeling nice and dense-ish when i lightly sqeeze them.

first question - as you will see in the pics, some of my buds' hairs are starting to dry and turn orange. this seems a little early for this to be happening. others are still white and hairy, as you can see....

the one's with the hairs turning orange are closer to the CFL lights.....maybe an inch away. is that too close?

second question - just wondering how much bigger i should expect these to get by the end of flowering?
(not sure how long it'll take....5 - 7 more weeks, i'm guessing.)

from the first pic, id say you're either manhandling the buds and its resulting in the hairs turning brownish/orange (happened to some of my friends plants due to ppl touching the tops) or it could be the CFLs are too close - i keep a mom in veg under 6 CFLs in my bathroom and theyve gotten burnt a lil before from being too close. as for the second question, dont expect them to get too big considering youre flowering w/ CFLs.

after looking at the first 2 pics again, im pretty sure theyre changing color due to being touched/mildly burned. just make sure not to let anything touch the tops and theyll be okay. also move the CFLs back until the heat isnt noticable near the plant. other than that, you're good to finish & smoke up!

if i raise the lights another inch and stop getting my grubby fingers all over them, should the buds recover?

yes, theyll be fine. raise the light until the plants arent recieving heat from the lights though. i know its tempting to touch the bud and sniff, but you can get a solid smell of the strain by gently rubbing your fingers on the crystally areas of a bud leaf without doing any harm to the plant itself. its okay to gently fondle the leaves, but not the whorls of calyx's. mmmmm sticky fingers
