well i no cold tempetures causes bud to become purple and i was wondering what temp causes bud to become purple bc where im at it gets reallll cold at night, my grow room gets about 65 degrees when lights off. I have the strain master kush and i read that hindu kush becomes purple and blue at night at thats half my buds genetics do u think mine will turn purple??

also tell me how my babies are doing the bigger ones about 3 1/2 weeks in veg under a 1000 hps ebb and flow system

i see that it looks like you want to get the "purps", some strians have this gene bred into them. kinda like a flower there are different colors. but most strains will turn purple with low temps. much lower than 65 degrees. basically the plant needs to get almost to the point of freezing, it has something to do with the horemones and the root system. i have heard of people using large blocks of ice in theer resevoirs, but this is not recomended. mainly because it WILL stunt the growth. many times this is a mistake that will effect the yield if it is toyed with by an inexperienced grower.strains such as purple urkel and purple haze will turn purple with little effort, just a slightly lower tepm than usual with the lights on or off, but if you have one of these strains, you need to make sure you do not pull too soon. many times the purple color you are looking for will develop fully during the last 2 weeks of flowering and even durring the drying proccess. actuallly it is a common mistake to pull your crop too soon by a week or two since most growers are impacient stoners...guilty

I dont think lowering the temp will do ANY good for the plant. All that will do is just is just stunt the plant like "jsgrwn". I dont know but I rather have good plants rather than coloring them by risking the health of them.

If you have a small enough grow area, and are able to install a cheap AC unit with an exhaust vent (some as little as $100), you can safely lower the temps, Don't blow it directly onto the plants just onto or into the air intake. It depends on the strain just how low you would need to go. Some strains will turn with a couple weeks of nights below 50 degrees, and that may be acheivable. However if you have one of the varieties that needs really coold temps (below 40 degrees) you probably won't be able to acheive your goal. Then it would also be a waste of money, I suggest just watch them this time around, see if you get any purple normally. If you do, the next time you grow it try adding an AC unit and it should make them more purple than this time. This is safe, many growers with heat problems use AC units to correct their issues. However, It basically depends on the genetics of the plant. You can only hope to "augment" what the plant naturally has to give.
