The past 4 plants ive harvested in the last month or so have all lost their smell and most of their awesome taste after i leave them hanging up drying for a few days!

Right now ive got some buds hanging up drying in a cardboard box i usually have a fan going on near them but it seems to take the smell away further....:wall:

The buds haven't lost their smell Irish, they're probably just dry so the smell isn't being given off while the water evaporates. The smell comes mostly from water soluble turpines and chlorophyll. Rehydrate the buds by putting them in a container with fresh cut buds and they will smell again.

If you'd like to see my procedure please download the Harvest and Curing chapter of Weed Science.

Thanks for the reply that answer is spot on sounds like thats what is wrong. When you say about rehydrating the buds do you mean buds just cut off the branch that are still wet?
What do you do to dry your buds man?

best way to do it.. is the proper way.

air dry the buds until the outer sides of the buds are dry to the touch.. and the stems of the buds BEND.. but DO NOT BREAK.

Once they get to that point.. you can then begin the curing process.

I actually wrote an article on drying and curing. If you don't understand how its done after reading my article.. then I would suggest that you change professions.

The link is in my signature. Many people have read it.. and given me many of thanks because they didn't understand how to do it.. or how its actually done (the proper way).. until after they read my article. Trust me.. you'll be glad that you read it.. you'll probably also be like "Oh wow, I was making that much harder than it really is." It's not rocket science.. its quite easy actually.

Take a look!

For those of you that don't know what a signature is on this site.. here's the link:

You need to cure your buds. If dried properly you will get your smell and taste after the cure. Patience is virtue my friend.

"When you say about rehydrating the buds do you mean buds just cut off the branch that are still wet?"

Put the dry buds in the same container with freshly cut bud or leaves, clipped from the branch. As the fresh cut gives up their water the dry bud will absorb some. It takes some time for the moisture to work it's way into the core of the dry buds by osmosis, be careful of mould.

"What do you do to dry your buds?"

I have an entire chapter with pictorials on Harvesting and Curing in Weed Science, linked at the bottom of this post. Only half of the Grow Lab thread is compiled to the ebook, there may be some things of interest between pages 20 and 40 of the thread.
