this is my first ever attempt at growing. white widow at around 3 1/2 weeks into flowering. do they look about right for this stage? also i had to move my light as they started to burn some of the leaves and now i'm worried not enough light is getting through to the rest of the buds? when the buds closest to the lamp are ready can i harvest them and leave the smaller buds on a bit longer? any help appreciated

yeah they look about right, but the heat has stunted them I am sure, especially with the damage I can see from the pics. Don't worry about the lower buds, every grow has just as much shit as good stuff on the plant unless you train them to grow evenly which you are way passed that point in time. You might still be able to pull back and tie a few branches to allow light to hit more places on your plants. I use some nylon string (fairly thick to keep from damaging the stems and very round and soft) and make loops on the ends and just pin the strings down to the containers with thumbtacks. the really low and underdeveloped parts of the plant I just cut off and they re-route the flowering hormones to the other buds and they will get slightly fatter (cut the little guys off as soon as they begin to develop, not after they have been around for a few weeks)...what I do is I top mine and let them veg until I have an even canopy and then I tie the longer branches down and pull them back so the whole plant gets light evenly. Once I have that plane of growth tips I flower.. this, however, is not recommended for some strains. It really helps the yield in the end, a dramatic difference I must say when the rest of the conditions are met for a healthy grow. But also, you will lose that one sweet cola that grows on top your plant that is so good for the soul after a long 3-4 months of growing.. Just make some good ganj butter with your smaller buds after your harvest and have that to look forward to. What kind of light ya using? Fortunately I enjoyed growing pepper plants (jalapeno, habanero, chili's, etc) growing up and they taught me a lot about plants. If you have resources practice growing some different types of plants and experiment, this also makes a good cover up if for some reason you are suspected of growing. good luck friend..
