There was a grow once with results of 150 grams on 140 watts FL. Its all about your setup..

lumens measurement of the bulb is just a marketing strategy, it's been said all over the place even in the catalogs of the hydro company(pick up a nationalgardenwholesale catalog if you can) that its the spectrum that is "USEFUL" for the plants. It's just how the hype out there is saying more light is better.

Can you be more specific. I know that the spectrum makes a difference ie 2700k redish spectrum, good for flowering, and 4100K, 5000K, 6500K. Blueish good for veg. but this doesn't answer the question. They have cfl bulbs that produce those same spectrums K value. So I guess I tring to find out if you would still need to divide the length by the lumens/k value/wattage. to get a persqf ratio.

If I have a cfl that uses 26w and has an output of 1700 lumes and is 6500k spec. vs. a four foot fluorescent that uses 40w has an output of 3000 lumens and is 6500k spec.

differences: 1) 26w vs. 40w
2) 1700 lumens vs. 3000 lumens

That i don't know, i just know that if i place 80 cuttings under a shoplight(2 4ft flouro) they will grow evenly when rooted then i transplant.
