Increasing Marijuana Harvest Yield ?

I was just looking at a website that talks about increasing yield and harvest. Has anyone ever tried any of the techniques talked about here? I was particularly interested in the idea of spraying plants with "ethel" (or do they mean ethyl?) in the early stages of growth to produce more females.
