clipping back...?

at what stage should i need to clip my plants? they are only small at the moment anbutd getting quite bushy underneath... do i need to prune them in order to give more life to the rest of the plant? If so, what do i do and where do i clip?

typical newbie question no doubt but i am a first time grower....

Hi Shiva

A plant can get so big that the lower branches do not get enough light to produce anything significant... That "SIZE" depends on your lights and the number of plants... Usually, most growers will switcg from the vegetative stage to the flowering stage when the plant is 12-24 inches tall..

I lean towards the smaller... like 4- 8 nodes (4-12 inches) because the lower branches don't produce anything worthy...

The lower branches do however make great clones....

like i said mines real small at the moment and i'm only using a single envirolite at the moment but am really pleased with the results so far, there are pictures in my gallery which are recent or you can check my grow journal which i'm updating on a regular basis... i long for the day when they get that tall so I can start flowering!

Maybe best I leave them for now as I don't plan on growing massive plants!

i dont prune , the plant will drop the leaves it dosnt need , you may think of tipping if you are concearnd with hight

yeah i don't hav ea great deal of heaight so may have to tip later... any advice on tipping would be handy...

I would consider bending the plant over. With a little effort you can train your plant to fill the available space more efficiently. In doing this you can get much fatter buds from the lower branches.
