"Pot Ash" ashes from burned wood fertilizer.

Has anyone heard of using the ashes from burned wood as a fertilizer for your plants? I was watching something on youtube and I saw the guys' buds were about 7 inches long so I decided to do it too. I only test one plant, but that was yesterday. Has anybody else done this and had wonderful results?

From what I have read that stuff can through your ph way off be careful !

It has alot of potassium in it, its good for plants.
