Default am i gonna burn down??

hello

in my current position i have a 400w MH 7" from the top of my grow box and 13" from two walls. the walls and the lid are plywood so im wondering if this is a fire hazad? also, is it safe to plugg that same light into a standerd outlet and leave it on 24/7 for a month or is that too a fire hazard??

anyhelp would be cool thank you

that light should only pull 4amps max, so yes 120v o.k.

and no fire from the heat of the lamp, i hope ?

make sure the light is wired for the right outlet !!

Well, paper burns at 451 degrees, I am pretty certain that wood ignition temp is higher. However, a build up of dust within its ignition point temp range makes me a little wary.

The wattage by itself is fine, but if the circuit hosts other appliances it could become a problem. Short answer, don't plug it in on the same circuit as the toaster and microwave.

Second answer, you could spend $12 and buy some quarter inch tile backer board at HD or Lowes. Cut it with a carbide bit on a jig saw and line your box. You can put drywall screws through the stuff pretty easy. It has cement in fiberglass and makes a good fire retardant surface.
