And if i have 10 going into flowering roughly how many can expect to be female?

I have 25 seeds should i just germ them all?

Space could be 10x10 and i have 1 1000W mh.

Thanks

I would germ 20 or more seeds to get 10 females

i would have to transfer them to bigger pots before i could tell if they are female? Im not sure i could fit that many 3 gal in my space.

Assuming i could, the 1000W mh would be sufficient?

well considering that there about a 1/1 ratio of male and female plants you'll have to do at least 20 or be extremely lucky.
How tall do you plan flowering the plants?
You could have a 3 foot plant in a 3 gallon pot, the rule of thumb is to have 1 gallon of pot per foot of plant. Also when if you put your plants in to flower at 3 feet expect them to double or triple in height ( 6-9 foot )
And finally the rule of thumb for lighting is to have at LEAST 50 watts of HID lighting per square foot but make sure you give them a little room in between eachother to breath

Mr I Can Do That For Half
Id germ about 6 seeds I get a 7 out of 10 female male ratio usually. Id get a good female or 2 and then have 2 good moms then never have to plant seeds again just clone and then you have known females that can get rooted and then go right into flower knowing they are female

Again....I am going to go against the grain here. Let me explain my situation. I only have room for 2 plants, nothing more and no exceptions, I could do 1 more, but it would cause problems and I would constantly be trying to fix a problem. Two plants thats it, and in a tight grow box. Now, I understand the possibilities of males, thats part of it. In my situation I would not mind having a male every now and then just so I can keep my seed stash up. Now, according to the consensus here, if I want 2 plants(female of course) I would need to plant around 5 +/- seeds. Now, if I plant 5 seeds and they should all turn out female, what the hell am I going to do, kill 3 female plants?. Remember, two plants is the max for me. I have only done a handful of grows, and I have never seen a male yet, but its all in the odds I guess with maybe a little luck as well.

So, now for your question. My point of view on this and as far as I am concerned, you only plant the total amount of seeds as you can effectively support. If you can only support 5 plants, then only plant 5 seeds. If you plant more than you can support it is very possible that you will have to get rid of a female to save the others, but either way at least one plant is going to die if you cant support it. Example, not enough light for one to many plants. Then you think to yourself, "hey, if I planted one less seed I would not have had this problem, that seed was going to be a female whether I planted it this grow or next grow and a female would have survived". If you are asking this question, then space has put limits on you in some way, and you must accept the fact you will get males. You are doing this for personal right? Then accept the fact you have to make the best of the situation. In my case, if I plant two and one is a male, I may let it keep going so I can get the seeds or kill it and accept that this grow is going to be a 1 plant grow. If I should get two males, well, I kill them both and start again. Hey, what can you do? Accept it and just grow man, each grow gives you valuable experience, I dare any of the veterans here to disagree that they have never had a bad grow or two in their lifetime and not learned something from it and probably learned more on the bad grows than the good grows.

If you have the discipline to not put yourself into a situation right off the bat, then you will have very few problems. Lets just say, you can only support 10 plants. However, you have a budget to only buy enough light to support 10 plants. Now, you plant 10 seeds(which you can sufficently support) and then the worst happens, you get 4 males. You decide to kill the males, now think of the extra light the other 6 plants will get, definatly eliminating a certain lack of light issue. You might even be able to turn a few lights off to save some on the electricity if the setup was designed right. Either way, you have eliminated the worry of not having a good setup and will know that will never be an issue. You have stayed within your means.

This is just my .02 worth.
