I have 9 plants veggin from seed, they are bag kush seeds. My tent is like 5 feet tall and 5 feet long and 1.7 foot deep. All plants are in 1 gallon pots, they have 4 nodes and working on 5th (1 round leaf at bottom,1 regular leaf and 2 fan leaves, working on the 3rd fan leaf). My question is how long should i vegg with out overgrowing? Im planinng to use 600 watts.

thats all up to you man.

the longer you let the veg.. the bigger the yields will be. Why? because.. your giving the root system more time to grow and expand. The bigger the roots are.. and the more roots a plant has.. the better the yield will be at harvest. It's a fact.

;)

Some people just flower straight from seed.. but.. I wouldn't suggest doing that. I would at least give them a good 3 weeks worth of veg. But then again, like I said.. its all up to you and how big you want the plants to get. Because when you switch a plant over to flowering.. usually it will double if not triple in size by the time harvest time comes around. Also another fact. ;)

Good luck man.

peace..

You need to figure out what your actual usable height is first.

Take your total overall height and from that subtract the number of inches from the floor to the top of your growing medium. From that total subtract the number of inches from the ceiling down to the lowest point your lights will be when fully raised. From that total subtract the minimum number of inches that you will need to maintain between the tops of your plants and your lighting so you do not fry your plant tops. What is left is your usable height.

Since plants will double to triple in height while in flower once you know your total usable height you can figure by what height you need to put your plants into flower so you will not later run out of usable height. (If you grow a very predominant sativa sativa/indica cross or a pure sative you should expect the plants to more than double or triple in height to in cases like that a very short vegetative growth stage or none at all would be needed.

Additional:

How long you veg can also be dictated by your lighting. If someone uses a lower wattage HID light system or CFLs, and not enough CFLs, they can outgrow their light capabilities and the result is little to no growth on the lower portions of their plants. Leaves and branches will die and the waste in that is the lowest branches will normally have tighter nodal spacing/closer branching, and should be good producers but with inadequate light they will either be poor producers or die from lack of light.

It is illogical for someone to outgrow their lighting. It will never increase production so a taller plant will not out produce a shorter plant and all the days in veg after a height where someone's lights will be able to penetrate deep enough are wasted and only increase the overall length of time/number of days from seed/clone to harvest.

If you grow an indica for 6 weeks (from seed) and top the plant at week 4, expect up to about a 36" plant, on average. IMO.
